Why even pay taxes when the government can't even protect your property and keep you safe.

It’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t.

If the police hand started using violence to stop this (because I’m sure asking would not work) it would only be worse PR and escalation

They should just get it over with.

If these people are so willing to dish out violence and destruction on innocent people, they should be willing to take it.

They will just frame it as oppression, then get sympathy from the masses as dramatic videos of riot police is released, which forces the hands of the politicians to stop it, whether they are good or bad.

The only solution is for most people to actually care about what's true and false, and not just accept whatever comes out of some source and inject it into their simplistic worldview of oppressor and oppressed.

Then actually oppress them. Then they won’t actually step out of line…

Ahh yes violently oppressing massive groups of people has always worked so well in the past.

FYI it wouldn't work, all it would do is galvanise the people being oppressed. Riots like this are a failure of the government and the only way to stop them from happening is to not fail the people.

You think all this looting would of happened if the French government had listened to the original student protests and implemented changes instead of throwing stun grenades and rubber bullets at them?

Violence begets violence.
