AskPune Some people truly believe they are entitled to waste water while the rest of us suffer cuts.
Every single morning, without fail, the family living across from me turns on their hose and wastes hundreds of liters of water. They don't just rinse their floor—they wash their entire house inside out, spraying down the ground floor and literally watering the upper balconies daily.
As you can see in the attached video, they dump so much water that it completely floods the road in front of their home and streams all the way down the street.
Meanwhile, our building committee just announced strict water cuts. We only get running water at specific times during the day to prevent shortages and conserve what we have.
It is incredibly frustrating to watch one family treat a shared resource like an infinite luxury while the rest of the neighborhood abides by strict restrictions. This is a daily routine—what can be done about this?

AskPune Got Scammed by a Girl from a Dating App at Metro Lounge, Pune – Please Read and Stay Alertu
I want to share an incident where I got scammed so others can stay alert and maybe connect if they have faced something similar. I matched with a girl on a dating app who said her name was Shrutika Sharma. She claimed to be from Chandigarh and mentioned she was in Pune for about 15 days. After chatting for a bit, we decided to meet. Initially, she asked me to come near Kopa Mall, but once I reached, she said her cab driver had dropped her near Kapila Matrix and asked if I could come there instead. When I arrived, she suggested we check out what was on the 4th floor of the building. I followed her, and we ended up in a bar, which I later found out was Metro Lounge.
Once we were inside, she began ordering drinks casually. Something felt off — her body language and the way the waiters interacted with her gave me a strange vibe, like they already knew each other. But since it was my first time going on a date with someone from a dating app, I ignored the red flags. She kept going to the bathroom around five or six times and was constantly chatting with someone on her phone. After some drinks, she also ordered cigarettes, for which I was charged ₹1,000. When I asked her to pay the bill, she said she did not have any money on her. Soon after, the waiter came and informed me that the total bill was ₹20,000. I was stunned. He claimed she had ordered two 60ml shots and two 90ml shots, with the price being ₹2,000 for just 30ml.
Realizing something was wrong, I quickly looked up the place online and found articles and posts mentioning similar scams happening at Metro Lounge Bar. By then, it was too late. While I was talking to a friend on the phone, I intentionally said, “Bro, I think I got scammed,” loud enough to be heard. I noticed people in the bar began moving around nervously. Then, a man came up to me and asked how much cash I had. I said ₹14,000. He told me to pay that and leave. I made the mistake of arguing, trying to reason with him, and that is when they started intimidating me — saying they would call the police and escalate the situation. Scared and under pressure, I ended up paying ₹14,000 just to get out safely.
Luckily, I was able to click her picture before things escalated, which I believe can help if any legal action is pursued or if someone else encounters her. Looking back, I strongly believe the girl and the bar staff were all part of an organized scam. If anyone else has experienced something similar or wants to discuss what can be done about it, please feel free to reach out. Let us make sure others are not trapped like this again.

AskPune Pigeon choose my balcony for special moment of her life
A pigeon has laid eggs in an unused planter on my balcony. I keep spotting him there whenever I open the door, but he flies away immediately, so I haven't been able to figure out his full plan. I'm just curious — once the eggs hatch, will he fly away with the chicks, or will they all stay here for a while?

AskPune I Got Scammed on a Valentine’s Week Date — Here's What Happened.
Hey Reddit,
I want to share my experience in the hope that it helps someone avoid the same mistake. So here goes:
A while ago, I went on a date with a girl I met through a few casual text exchanges. I was feeling pretty lonely, and since it was Valentine’s week, I thought, why not? I suggested a couple of places for us to meet up, but she was insistent on "deciding once we meet." Fine, no problem.
She made me wait for an hour and, when she finally showed up, told me to rush to this place called "Metro Lounge and Bar" in Koregaon Park. She said we were already running late, and the urgency kind of threw me off. I didn’t think much of it and went there immediately.
Once I arrived, she immediately started ordering drinks. Not just any drinks, but Blue Label whiskey and vapes — both things I didn’t know were so expensive. But I didn’t think much of it because, to be honest, I was still fairly new to working life and didn't fully understand the pricing of such things.
Then the real shock hit. When she went to the washroom, I asked the waiter about the bill. That’s when I saw it… ₹18,800. EIGHTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED for drinks and a couple of vapes. I was in complete disbelief. This was a casual place, not a fancy lounge or anything.
I had no way of paying that amount. I didn’t have anywhere near that much money on me. So, I gathered what little courage I had and confronted her when she came back. Her response? Excuses. She didn't own up to any responsibility. Then, the staff joined in and told me that it was my responsibility to split the bill. So, I ended up paying ₹9,500, half of the total.
At this point, it felt like a complete scam. I really think the girl and the staff were in on it together. There’s no way it was a coincidence that the bill was that high at a place like that.
Oh, and just so you know, parking at that place costs ₹40, which isn’t much, but it's just another unnecessary charge that added to the surprise.
Feeling utterly cheated, I decided to go to the police station. But when I told them about the situation, they asked for a receipt, which I didn’t have. Without it, they couldn’t really help me. I left the police station feeling defeated, disillusioned, and stupid for falling for this scam.
Looking back, it’s kind of embarrassing. I knew incidents like this happened, but I thought it wouldn't happen to me. The worst part? I feel like I should have been more careful, especially during Valentine’s week, when loneliness and FOMO are at their peak.
So here’s my advice: If you're in the same position, don't let the loneliness or excitement of a date cloud your judgment. Take your time getting to know someone first. Choose a known, trusted place for a first meet-up. And if something feels off, trust your gut.
I hope someone reads this and learns from my mistake. Take care of yourselves out there, Reddit. Whether you’re looking for peace, love, or just some good company, remember that it’s better to wait for something real than fall into a situation like this.
Fraud place: Metro Lounge and bar, koregaon park.

AskPune Punekars, I need your support this is DAMN urgent 😐😐
So this actually happened 2 days ago, many of u already know about this and I'm still annoyed about it.
At a PMC meeting for Ganeshotsav prep, a Narayan Peth resident named Vidyanand Bapat stood up and asked for ONE thing: no loudspeakers/DJs in public places, no mandaps blocking roads, no processions on traffic routes. That's literally it. Not "cancel the festival." Just... basic civic sense.
Mandal workers lost it. Shouted him down so hard the whole meeting turned into a mob scene, and police had to walk him out for his own safety. For asking this.
Oh and when people complained about the noise? A mandal rep said troubled residents should just "go on a picnic for the day" and mandals would pay for it.
Bro. It's OUR city too.
Quick FYI because I know someone's gonna say "anti-Hindu" in the comments — Bapat isn't against the festival. He's cool with 125+ years of Ganeshotsav tradition, dhol-tasha, all of it. He just wants the DJ walls, pressure horns, and lasers (yeah, the ones that literally injured people's eyes last year) gone.
And here's the thing — this isn't even a new ask:
- Supreme Court + High Court already have guidelines restricting exactly this kind of noise. One case literally came out of Pune. The law already exists, it's just not enforced because local authorities have loopholes to look the other way.
- Solapur banned heavy DJ systems and it actually worked. Before the ban they had reported heart-attack deaths linked to DJ noise. After the ban? Peace, and the festival still happened fine.
- Our noise rules are from the year 2000, built around "quiet at night" logic. Meanwhile half of Pune is now working US/UK/Australia shifts from home. The whole day/night thing doesn't even apply anymore.
Basically: a guy asked for something reasonable, backed by actual law and precedent, and got mobbed for it in a public meeting.
There's already a petition — Paul Uchala: DJ Mukt Ganeshotsav — sitting close to 30k signatures. Bapat's taking this to court next, but it'll hit way harder with 1 lakh+ signatures behind it.

If you're in Pune, just sign it. Takes 30 seconds. Then send it to your family group, your society group, wherever — WhatsApp, IG, Twitter, everything.
We complain about DJ noise every single year on this sub. Here's an actual chance to do something about it.n to any one of us tomorrow.
