I suggest everyone watch Folding Ideas' video called 'In Search of a Flat Earth' on YouTube. It goes over flat earth as an ur-conspiracy theory and how it eventually folded into Qanon as a new ur-conspiracy theory. Basically they're meant to combine thousands of smaller conspiracy theories into one larger narrative that rationalizes insanity. He does a fantastic job breaking down the psychology behind Trump's cult toward the end.
