Snail Mail [38/NB] Let's get real
I am looking for penpals who are interested in building a lasting relationship (platonic), not simply exchanging a letter or two before drifting away. I want the kind of connection that unfolds over time, one letter at a time.
Small talk is lovely, if that is your sort of thing. But I want to know how your day really went, not what the weather was like. Tell me about your favourite animal in an absurd amount of detail. Complain about your job, or regale me with tales of that one coworker who seems determined to test your patience. Ramble about your secrets, your desires, your hopes, and the things you rarely say aloud. Tell me what makes your heart soar and what leaves it in pieces. Let me share in your joys, your sorrows, your triumphs, and your disappointments. I want to feel the person behind the handwriting.
A little about me, so you know who you might be writing to.
I am a 38 year old, married, transmasc butch lesbian, thoroughly adorned in tattoos and unapologetically myself. I am a witch, TTRPG developer, birder, author, resin artist, and Forever DM in Dungeons & Dragons. I am also disabled, which is another thread in the tapestry of my life.
My household is ruled by two particularly notorious creatures: Oliver, my extremely spoiled corgi, and Oswin, my feline overlord. Between the two of them, I experience approximately a dozen near-heart attacks a day. Their antics are a seemingly endless source of amusement, exasperation, and stories, so you can expect to hear plenty about their misadventures.
As for correspondence, I believe in matching energy. Send me a few lines, and I shall send a few in return. Send me several pages filled with your thoughts, stories, and musings, and I will happily fill several pages of my own. There is no expectation to perform or impress, only to bring as much of yourself to the page as you feel comfortable sharing.
One important note: I write with fountain pens, in cursive. Please let me know upfront if reading handwritten cursive is difficult for you. I would much rather know beforehand than discover, after sending a letter, that my handwriting is an indecipherable mystery. Unfortunately, that has happened before, and I would prefer not to repeat the experience.
And, naturally, no letter of mine would be complete without a liberal scattering of washi tape and stickers. I am a stationery hoarder, after all, and I firmly believe that a little decorative whimsy makes its way into even the most ordinary correspondence.
Ultimately, I am looking for someone who wants to show up, keep writing, and allow a friendship to grow organically through ink, paper, and the occasional assortment of stickers. Someone who wants more than a name on an envelope. Someone willing to let a stranger become a familiar presence, one letter at a time.
If that sounds like your sort of connection, I would love to hear from you.
Edit: I forgot to mention I prefer to receive the first letter. Call it the opening move.
