It's hard to be a single Puppymama. No one's here to hold the collar of one dog while I take the other for a walk. It's just me following Maggie around saying, "don't, don't, don't eat my sock/get into the trash/chew the eyeballs off the plush toys. Today I woke up at 5 a.m. hungry, ate yogurt, went back to be---no not back to bed because Maggie had curled up in my spot. I just wrote cards all day. But I am wiped. Thank you everybody for the mail; it means a lot to me while the boyfriend is out of town and my only interactions are cards and online chatter and stubborn pups.
Let's start with Mystery sender--thank you for the postcard of Balboa park in San Diego. It looks like a beautiful place! If this is yours please DM me so I can help boost your flair.
Mystery sender 2--thank you for the upcycled Lovebird postcard. I was in fact rooting for the Jays last year. This year, the Brewers. If you recognize yourself in this card please DM me.
u/1999-2021, thank you for the juxtaposition of the real-life skull and the Sanrio characters inside. I feel I'm getting the best of Halloween, all together.
u/A_LanguageEnthusiast, thank you for the white Japanese-style cat. I am a dog person but I love cat cards! I agree the 80s would give you the best financial chance, especially if you foresee the dot com bust and the housing market failure later on. You could make all the right decisions and be living in a middle-class house with assets to support it. Sorry, late Millennials and Gen Z have it hard in general. iPhones but no real estate. I agree, it's rough out there.
u/ADHDbibliophile, "It's true," there is life on other planets. That's the first thing I thought of anyway. It could also be true that my Sheepie is aging rapidly. No, that interpretation sucks, I'll go back to the first. Thank you for this card and the bonus postcards. The Greek one is going to my world-traveling brother; my mom will get the buffalo. I write them often and my mom actually writes back 6 days a week!
u/agirlandherridgebax, Thank you for the Greater Roadrunner postcard and the bird facts. I did know the first, but not the second. Thanks for educating me! And give your dog a kiss!
u/annabananasrambling, thanks for the vintage postcard of Penrith. I love all the old cars! Yes, hasn't it been chilly lately? When I'm writing late at night it's 39 degrees! Not exactly Cheerwine weather, is it? I still love it, I just drink less soda in the winter and more whiskey.
u/Brookuslicious, thank you for passing along the security envelope TPC. I agree with you; your pattern is the best!
u/Cardinal_75, thank you for passing on the Snow Globe TPC!
u/draconic_healing, thanks for reminding me of the wishbone challenge. Yes, I used to pull on them with my little brother. As I went veg at 18, so much for that game! But I appreciate the memories. Since this is a Thanksgiving card, I should say what I'm grateful for: my pups, my boyfriend, our new roof, my mom, her bailout money, and the World Series. That's for starters!
u/equalitea, Thank you for the Happy World Postcard Day! It had to come a long way to get to me so I doubly appreciate it. I think I would pick the 80's. I was a kid then but I'd like to see it through adult eyes. One thing: I am not doing the hair!
u/evergrowingexmo, thank you for the beautiful butterfly card! I can see how your child's mind would think we were in an upside-down bowl. I have been to wide-open spaces like Iowa and North Dakota. It's a really large bowl but I can feel it in my memory. I love your user stamp btw!
u/FeistyNoodle x2, thank you for the squirrel carrying soup in an acorn bowl! So cute! Squeal! I also love the Panda washi you've used inside. Too too too adorable! Thanks also for your second card, this one of a Manchineel tree. I would love a plant that grew Smartwool socks. They're so expensive, and I don't understand how they get lost in my very own house. [Maggie?! where are my socks?]
u/groceryowl, thank you for the Pikes Peak regional card. I have actually been to Pike's Peak twice but I have not seen these figures. My mother recognizes Indigenous Peoples' Day. She lives in Seattle, so duh. Can they do nothing wrong, um, except win a World Series lol.
u/heyathelia, thank you for the devil/crystal ball card. Just what is he conjuring up? Thanks for answering my prompt. I love cold, rainy days, because my pups sleep all day and I can get stuff done!
u/hoolu123, thank you for the studhammer who is "thinking of me." Ahh. Thanks for the bonus postcards too, and I want you to know I appreciate your stamp math. Yours was the stamp-mathiest this time around!
u/lemon-on-trees, thanks for your mail responding to my mail. I'm going to keep the topic just between us, okay? In case of stigma. That's up to you, though. I'm an open book. I'll tell you right now for instance, that I never paid a $1500 bill for services imposed on me. F them. I didn't need the "treatment."
u/ninajyang, um, do you really have an alligator or was that just funsies? I'm scared of you now.
u/Ok_Reveal2698, thank you for the fun facts about New Orleans Cemeteries. I saw them once, but I was in my early 20s and was mainly eager to walk around with a Hurricane. Strong drink! Your stickers are apt for the topic!
u/OneDarkandStormyKnit, thank you for the Happy owl-oween card. It's so cute! The last year I went trick-or-treating I was 15, so I beat you by a year. But I had a 4'11" friend posing as my much younger cousin! I'm going to write you back because I have some stickers for you!
u/PinkPengin, thank you for the homemade Mental Health Day card and all the extra stuff! I think the person you quoted is right: I need to tell myself what I tell others (unless it's bring me a beer). I probably oughtta start taking my meds again. Maybe? I might be more coherent if I did. Or maybe they're all placebos. I want to switch, that's the thing. I've been beating the drum: Par-NATE, Par-NATE! Wish me luck with my next psych meeting on the 29th.
u/pupslace, thank you for your hilarious story! Meta-challenge memories. I love the ferry card!
u/ruschca, I love your photography postcard of the bee on salvia. Knowing you grew the salvia yourself and took the photo makes it extra special. Good for you for learning about gardening! My father was a primo flower grower but he died before he could teach me :( and I feel clueless on my own. Also our yard is totally in shade. Grrr. I know shade gardening is a thing, but I just want to do normal gardening.
u/somerhild_wode, thanks for the Meta challege "memories" card. I remember the cool, older kids riding skateboards in the 70s; I didn't ride one till the 80s, and I peeled half the skin off my leg going downhill, unable to stop. Nah, it didn't hurt much. Just a flesh wound. My stepbrother's Powell Peralta was easier to use, but he didn't let me use it a whole lot. I love your orange and brown floral washi--it is more 70s than 70s.
u/ThePumpkinFiend, thank you for the art postcard! It has a river so I'm happy! Is rain in the desert good or bad? I would be all like Praise Jesus! and I'm an atheist.
u/TyeDyeAmish, thank you for the creepy 9-5 scarecrow. The creepiest kind of all!
u/waywarddaughterzzz, thank you so much for the homemade Halloween card. I love it! I've slept in a cemetery before, but I did have my dog with me. No air mattress or pillow though. Migrants often slept there too; it was in a high-immigration area. There was a young beautiful woman once my dog sniffed out of the bushes. I was nearly broke but I gave her $300 to get outta there. "Cursed to be born beautiful poor and female, there's none who suffer more."--Porno for Pyros.
u/yarnivorousplants, thank you for the 60s postcard of a man and woman drummers. I love it! The 80s were awesome music wise, from Kate Bush to Van Halen. I thought I was a weirdo for liking Kate Bush, but it turns out some cool kids at my school liked her too! Now that's validation when you're 16.
