I've not dealt with a tattoo artist, but make it make sense. I get tipping servers and even barbers, but don't tattoo artists set their own rates? If I come to you and say "how much to get this picture on me" and the artist makes up the number, why is that number not big enough to not need a tip on top of it?
It doesnt make sense to you because youre an honest, reasonable person. It's base greed cloaked in societal norms. The fact that you effectively become a pariah for not tipping is bonkers.
Do you become a parish? Every example I've seen here of people who shouldn't be tipped generally don't ask or expect it haha. Are tattoo artists and hairdressers way different? Like you won't be welcome back if you don't tip? Never been to either haha
I'd say so, yeah. I'm not saying you'll lose friends or anything, but you'll definitely get attitude and nasty looks.
And yes actually, I cant speak on hairdressers as a man. I am heavily tattooed, if you dont tip your artist I've seen folks get kicked out, got told not to come back, Im acquainted with an artist who texts other artists in the area "Hey So and So doesnt tip". One shop ive been in but didn't get ink at had photos on the "STINGY WALL", aka people who didnt tip.
I'm tattooed and do weird shit to my hair, there will be consequences if you don't tip, most definitely, but you might not know right away. I've known dog groomers that black list no tippers, too. If you want to bully your way through the waiting list to get your dog washed too close to a big holiday, you better have tipped or they're booked solid and you're SOL
