tbh yes I'm tired of factoring an additional 20% on top of whatever the tattoo artist tells me. I don't want to tip you, just tell me a price.
Semi-related, I went to a café the other day where you ordered at a kiosk. After keying in your order, you took a number and punched the number into the screen. When your food was ready, your number would flash on the lobby screen and you could pick up your order from a small window near the kitchen. No human interaction, no words exchanged.
The kiosk still asked me how much I wanted to tip. What am I tipping for.
I said that exact thing the last time I got quoted for a tattoo. I asked him to tell me a final price because I didn't want to wonder about a fair tip for what's already an expensive purchase.
He told me, I paid it, and I even brought him a small gift in lieu of a tip because he was visiting, from out of the country. A little souvenir.
