Genuinely fuck off, the takeover from EA could not have been worse for BioWare. Pushed them to finish stuff faster, made them chase trends just to eventually kill it off as it didn’t let them do what made them buy them in the first place. Fuck EA

Let's not act like Bioware is blameless. All their games post Mass Effect 3 have been flops. It's not just "big corp bad", if Bioware stopped smoking their own farts and produced games that weren't broken messes and didn't have the most atrocious, forced progressive writing imaginable they'd still be EA's golden child.

Instead, Respawn has surpassed Bioware.

To be fair, dragon age inquisition did really well. But yeah, your point still stands

I feel like Inquisition was their last “hit” but it was a softer hit. The game was controversial in its gameplay and tone changes and even though it won GOTY it was an uncrowded year iirc. It did sell very well though iirc. But Bioware hasnt had a near unanimous hit since ME2 imo (DA origins, KOTOR, Mass Effect 1 and 2 in this IMO)

Inquisition sold like, twice the copies of ME3, it was a big hit by any metric.

You're confusing controvorsey with success.

ME2 was their last well-received game, but DAI was a success in any conceivable metric.

You can like Inquisition or not, but Inquisition was a financial success; it made the most money of all the games in the DA series. Also, it attracted a lot of new players, and yes, it was generally well received. Which is even worse that they made Veilguard after such success.

Inquisition was what got me into the franchise. I was 14 and had the time to clear every area as I encountered them and play through multiple times. I loved that game. Then I waited a decade for Veilguard and it just…did not have the sauce.

I’m not surprised by this, but dammit I’m still pretty sad. I think they were fully capable of turning themselves around with the right leadership. Someone who can manage a project and deliver on time could use full advantage of BioWare’s legacy to get them back on track.

I forget that Inquisition came out after ME 3.

But still, Inquisition often gets regarded as the first signs of decline
