There was an app on the 3DS called pokemon bank. For the past couple years it’s been active despite support ending for the 3DS shop. It’s the only way to transfer pokemon from 3DS and before to pokemon home on the switch.

The option to move my gen 3 pokemon forward to the new games always made me happy, and now that it’s closing in February, I’m in a rush to transfer all my pokemon and finish up shiny hunts I wanted to do. After the shutdown I have no reason to play the old games anymore

No one should ever trust cloud based servers for anything. They will inevitably stop being supported at some point, then everything is gone forever.

Oh they were open about it shutting down at some point, and they gave 6 months warning. It just sucks, cloud based anything is horrible. It’s the main reason I’m never getting another console
