Captain Anderson and his role in Community will always be my favourite performances of his, but his voice is so iconic he's great in almost everything he's in.

Ramirez! Move your ass!

I will always remember him as Julius and himself from Saints Row the most however.

u/Zotmaster Feb 18 '26

Ramirez! Divide by zero!

u/Alternative-Hall-850 Feb 18 '26

Were it so easy.

17

u/belladonnagilkey Feb 18 '26

And help Commander Shepard figure out how to dance!

u/Eh_SorryCanadian Feb 18 '26

Ramirez, get over to the burger town

I love him as Ice King and the Boar God Okkoto in Princess Mononoke. “My warriors! You’ve come back to me from the land of the dead! Forward my warriors!”

RAMIREZ, PROTECT THE BURGERTOWN!

I loved him as Goliath in Gargoyles, he has so much gravitas

This and HBO's Spawn. Which IMO was better than even the comic books. Should have never been cancelled.

3

u/Derptholomue Feb 19 '26

HBO's Spawn has some outstanding VO work. I can hear KD screaming, "...I can't even end it!!!" when Spawn realizes what he's done. chills

3

u/Talnoy Feb 19 '26

Hell yeah! His role in the Spawn cartoon was amazing.

u/ordeath Feb 18 '26

Goliath was my very first "hear me out".

Captain Anderson is such a father figure.

I can't reconcile the two and hope I never do.

2

u/ghanlaf Feb 18 '26

Also the shadow man from princess and the frog. Shows the man can sing

2

u/ordeath Feb 20 '26

And one of the best Disney villain songs!

1

u/ghanlaf Feb 20 '26

Hell yeah.

Right up there with "be prepared"

2

u/Sere1 Feb 19 '26

Demona and Angela were my first "well they're not human, but I'm definitely into this" characters as a kid.

2

u/mochikitsune Feb 19 '26

Thr Arbiter was 100% my first "hear me out"

1

u/ordeath Feb 20 '26

Haha I never played Halo but I see your vision 🤭

3

u/Praesentius Feb 18 '26

Oh, I remember that Jonathan Frakes was the rich bad guy in that! And Marina Sirtis was the antagonist Gargoyle!

What a cast!

2

u/Legionnaire11 Feb 18 '26

Tons of other Trek cast and crew were involved as well, makes sense that both shows were phenomenal.

2

u/Sere1 Feb 19 '26

Seriously, Keith David and nearly all the Star Trek TNG cast made that show a treat to watch growing up, especially since it was meant to compete with the already legendary Batman: The Animated Series.

His fourth wall breaking in Saints Row 4 always holds a special place in my memory. Not on the level of his Anderson and Arbiter roles, but fun in its own way

damn you beat me too it

17

u/dancingbriefcase Feb 18 '26

I also liked how he narrated the Ken Burns style episode about the forts. Because he actually narrated Ken Burns documentaries before

5

u/OpusWerks Feb 19 '26

Wait, weren't you in The Cape?

... No.

13

u/Quaiker Feb 18 '26

My favorite performance of his is Spawn, though The Arbiter is a close second.

Such buttery smooth tones.

14

u/latinnameluna Feb 18 '26

i was apprehensive about him taking on the role of commander zavala because i was so worried i wouldn't be able to unhear admiral anderson, but my god, lance reddick left huge shoes to fill and he somehow did it. this man is a fucking titan of talent and we are so lucky to have him in games AND in film.

3

u/DerpingtonHerpsworth Feb 19 '26

lance reddick left huge shoes to fill

THERE'S the name I've been fumbling around for. I saw Zavala's face and Lance Reddick is who I pictured and heard in my head, but I couldn't think of his name. Love the both of them.

4

u/fripperiffic Feb 18 '26

could not agree freaking MORE!

5

u/Sere1 Feb 19 '26

I love how in Community he first is the narrator for the great Pillow vs Blanket Fort war before eventually coming in as a full character himself.

3

u/tacofever Feb 18 '26

Worlds within worlds!

3

u/witz0r Feb 18 '26

I love him in everything, but because I'm a child of the 80s, it's They Live! That fight scene is legendary.

3

u/Niaso Feb 19 '26

Community and Psych are how I knew him. Liked him in both.

3

u/FredFredBurger69Nice Feb 19 '26

His role in community was more appreciated after all the Ken Burns documentaries I had to watch in school. Keith David's voice alone put me to sleep during US history for a solid month in class.

2

u/slapmepsilly Feb 18 '26

“I’m the GODDAMN President of the United FUCKING STATES!!”

1

u/TheBlackComet Feb 18 '26

I love how in Saints Row 4, he is just Keith David. VP Keith David. Not some fancy name , but himself.

1

u/TheLastHotstepper Feb 19 '26

Saints Row or Future Man for me

1

u/tjoardar Feb 19 '26

Now that’s a man who knows how to get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame!
