i've been lonely since i was like 10. not "no friends" lonely, i have friends, but the kind where you're surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. i've wanted someone to love and be loved by for basically half my life now and it's never happened
every time i get a crush it starts off so nice, and for a second you feel like maybe. then you go home and replay it for weeks. you look for meaning in everything. and slowly that nice feeling turns into this deep ache because you already know how it ends. they never feel the same
and it's not just a surface level crush. i can love them even with their flaws. the more i learn about them, the more i want to be with them, and the more it drives me insane, because i'm hoping for something that's literally never gonna happen. it's just this sharp pain and i don't know what to do with it. and it's affecting my whole life. i can't focus, i don't even want to focus tbh, i have no motivation, and i just feel lonely
a while ago one girl was describing me for a game and she called me "normal and chill." i told her i was surprised, like... normal? really? and she even insisted that i was. if only she knew. then the next time we met she was cold and distant, so any hope there, ofc, gone. and it just hurts
then there's another girl. she's so bright. she pulls me in, laughs at my jokes even when they don't land, treats me differently from the rest of the group. and yet we barely meet. i even have her contact, but we don't text, or anything
and if i'm being honest, i get why. i'm overweight, i'm not attractive, i'm quiet and freeze up when it matters. she's way out of my league. there are better people in our own friend group, plus the entire world, than to choose me. it feels like you have to be flawless to be loved and i'm so far from that
the worst part is i act fine. everyone thinks i'm doing alright. then it's 3am, i'm alone in my room, and it hurts so bad it's hard to breathe. i don't even want much. i just want someone to see me, flaws and all, and choose me anyway
back in may i had the worst weeks of my life. i was so deep in depression that i basically stopped taking care of myself. i didn't eat, barely drank water, and my sleep was gone to shit for nearly 2 weeks. i wasn't actively trying to end things, but looking back, it kinda was an attempt without me even realizing it. the craziest part is i didn't even feel physically bad. the emotional pain was so loud i didn't notice i was hungry or thirsty. nothing helped, not music, not games, nothing. everything just felt empty. i found out later there's a word for it, anhedonia, and that described it exactly. no one even knew. it was only after that i realized i could've actually died, and that really messes with my head
so i guess at least i can feel this now. as much as it hurts, it's something
i'm trying. i don't even like putting myself out there, i'm introverted and i hate how much energy it takes, but the pain is what forces me to do it anyway. and it feels like i'm just hoping for something hopeless, over and over
i'm doing better than may. i'm eating, drinking water, and some okay stuff has been happening. but the loneliness never left, and some days i feel it starting to creep back. today was one of those days, and it scared me
i think i'm safe right now, i just needed to say it somewhere instead of keeping it in
does this ever actually change? or is this just how it is for people like me
