So for non police dogs… if you have a critical emergency like this, can you call 911 and get a chopper to come out??? Like wtf I want that for my dog!

A company i worked at gave you the opportunity to have a life flight option for ONE of your loved ones in lieu of bonuses.

So I got it for my daughter and let me tell ya, that shit is EXPENSIVE. Never had to use it thank God but it was nice to have.

I can’t afford that for myself let alone my future dog lol

That dog is a government asset that happens to have a family. You are a government asset who happens to have a dog.

A regular citizen is a government asset?

u/Chefmeatball 22h ago

For the turn of phrase, yes

And literally. We are literally resources for the state.

Start losing a war bad enough and you find that out…

Lumberjacks are workers who chop wood. Workers are lumberjacks, but they don't all chop wood.

Yeah, but the best citizens are government liabilities

If you’re American, Do you pay taxes? Are you enrolled in the draft?

Also would love to know in general if you can call 911 for a pet injury, bc I think no… I have to be the ambulance right?

Former emt here, we will not transport your pets. Our squad had oxygen masks for cats and dogs in case of house fires though.

So what you’re saying is, bash myself in the head really good, call “myself” an ambulance, claim my pet is a service animal and that they inhaled smoke in a house fire?

You tell them you are hurt but then by the time they got there, the dog had Green Miled you and took your ailments and made them his own. Good boy.

I saw an entire cliff rescue team start setting up all their gear thinking it was a hiker- they didn’t slow down when they learned it was his dog.

I'm amazed this dude is still in business, but my ex wife used to drive for this business:

Thanks for this. I think best practice would be to know a number like that locally for a pet ambulance or better know the closest 24 hr pet hospital etc.

better off calling a veterinarian

I would imagine they called it for this police dog as they take months to train and cost thousands to train as well, not your normal dog. That’s probably why they rushed it to the hospital with a helicopter and not a ambulance

Police dogs are so expensive. Up to like 20k bucks plus all the training and stuff.

u/r23w 21h ago

I really think they called it because they could. They do this all the time calling for medivacs knowing that it makes a huge difference.

It's an officer

Or non police humans for that matter.

1

u/TheRealistoftheReal 22h ago

Are you sure? It’s like $60K.

1

u/Curiouserousity 21h ago

A helicopter life flight is about $20k. Although honestly to sign up for a year of coverage for a household is just like $100, so I'm curious if they would offer pet coverage. Not every flight is certified for dogs. But also since police dogs have a certain amount a training they may also not accept just any dog.

Did your dog undergo $15,000 in specialized training?

1

u/KeenbeansSandwich 22h ago

Thats the kinda thing i want my taxes going towards tbh.

Moron. Helicopter evac is common in the US.

5

u/Ashamed_Kangaroo305 22h ago

Not for pets...

-4

u/Worried_Tangelo_3220 22h ago

Yes dipshit, for pets. If you’re in a remote location or the pet is severely injured, there are multiple resources for airlifting the pet out of danger.

5

u/A_Lovely_ 22h ago

Do you have a source for this? Or is this more of an opinion?

-2

u/Worried_Tangelo_3220 22h ago

Do you have a source for it not being true or are you just an antagonizer? How can you possibly say with a straight face “source???” when that’s like the number 1 joke about Redditors idiocy?

3

u/A_Lovely_ 22h ago

So that’s a no then.

u/Worried_Tangelo_3220 22h ago

So that’s a “I can’t use Google for myself” then.

1

u/Alternative_Work_916 22h ago

How do you get one? 1-900-YOURASS?

1

u/Worried_Tangelo_3220 22h ago

No, 1-800-YOURMOM

u/Ashamed_Kangaroo305 22h ago

What exactly are these resources? I've never heard of this and if there are multiple resources for airlifting a pet out of danger I'd love to know. I want to go on hikes with pets and it would be great to know there's a safety net if I need it.
