Let’s Talk About the Silence

Hey everyone,

r/humor has been feeling a little like a comedy club at 3:00 AM on a Tuesday. It’s a bit too quiet.

We want to bring r/humor back to its former glory

Engagement is down and we're seeing a lot of recycled content and Non-related posts rather than fresh, original humor.

We want to hear from you. How do we make this the first sub you check when you open Reddit?

What do YOU want to see?

Drop a comment below with your thoughts. Tell us what you love, what you hate, and what would make you start posting here again.

Don't vote for the people who caused the problem, folks.

Not OC(Reposted content) Best of luck, bro! Most people can't get deals as good as the one you got.

New to reddit? click here!

Sit back in your finest leather chair, pop in your gold rimmed monocle, pour yourself a glass of top shelf brandy, and enjoy your stay here at /r/humor.

This is a place for funny things that require a little bit more thought and a longer attention span than over at /r/funny (which is where you should head once you've become raging drunk and switched over to beer).

What we want:

Humorous/satirical videos of substance. This can include videos of stand up comedy or comedy sketches. Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, you name it. Comedy of substance doesn't necessarily mean clean comedy... Just good comedy.
Humorous/satirical articles of substance. This can include articles from The Onion, Cracked, and many other humor and satire-based websites along with funny real news stories.
Your original content as long as it does not exceed 10% of your posts to Reddit. Exceed that ratio, and our moderator neck beards will begin to furiously itch with anger...and you will be banned.
Use titles that describe what will be seen when the link is clicked. Posts with titles like "This is the funniest thing I've ever seen." or other editorialized titles will be removed.

What we don't want:

Memes, Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter.
Self posted jokes.
Videos of commercials.
Images of text.
One-off funny images.
Link shorteners or redirectors, or ALL CAPS.
Complaints in the comments. Downvote or report instead.

Other:

Much of the best humor is mature and off-color, so many posts may be NSFW.
Post political humor and cartoons to /r/politicalhumor.
Post comics to /r/comics or /r/webcomics.
Posts are subject to minimum account age and karma requirements.

Other subreddits of interest:

/r/Funny A treasure trove of funny images and screen shots, which is exactly what Al Gore created the internet for.
/r/Jokes Jokes submitted by (and/or stolen by) your fellow Redditors.
/r/NotTheOnion For stories so mind-blowingly ridiculous that you could have sworn it was an Onion article.
/r/NewsOfTheStupid Real news stories about people doing really stupid things. A large percentage of the submissions are from the state of Florida.
/r/PoliticalHumor A place where you can go to make fun of how stupid the other side's political opinions are, while at the same time reassuring yourself that all of your political opinions are completely infallible.
/r/Humour That's not a misspelling; it's the subreddit dedicated to funny bits by our British brethren from across the pond. Feel free to play Yakety Sax on repeat during your visit.
/r/FloridaMan The World's Worst Superhero.
/r/DarwinAwards Watch people stupidly remove themselves from the gene pool.
/r/ScenesFromAHat A play-by-post version of the game from "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
/r/lol A well-moderated place with Lots of Laughs.
/r/MusicalComedy Comedy that's musical.
/r/OneLiners A variety of funny, one line jokes in a well-moderated, friendly community!
/r/Sarcasm - Your everyday discussions, in a sarcastic fashion.
