If a lion and tiger from different parts of the world can get along, why can't we?

Interestingly, at one point lions and tigers actually had overlapping ranges. Their ranges at one point or another have extended to parts of Anatolia, the Caucasus, Iran and parts of India. Today there is actually still a reservation of Indian lions in Gujarat, India, a country more associated with the tiger.
