How are they managing to balance? Impressive.

Good thing they’re drift compatible.

Ahh… I was waiting for I Kaiju to make the connection.

I thought there was going to be a giant Komodo dragon coming out of a puddle or something.

Seriously. I rewatched it recently, and it holds up. The part where they grab cargo containers and smash the kaiju’s face with it, fkn chef’s kiss

GdT understood the assignment and made this movie with just the right amount of corniness and doesn't takes itself seriously, sorely underappreciated at the time.

Still can’t believe they never made a sequel

Is this sarcasm?
They did make a sequel, Pacific Rim 2: Uprising. It just sucked, though it had a cool Transformer's call out in it.4
u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist 6h ago
No that was an entirely different franchise

Either you are continuing the sarcasm or are miss informed:
Wikipedia: Pacific Rim Uprising is a 2018 American mecha monster action film, the sequel to Pacific Rim) (2013).
Also, GDT stepped down from directing PR Uprising to do shape of water, he was the original director on Pacific Rim, so its the same franchise.2

Clicked hoping to hear the theme. Wasn't disappointed.

That theme does a lot of heavy lifting in the movie.

u/TheJinManCan 6h ago
Can't tell if you didn't like the movie or making a pun because the mechs are obviously heavy.
Either way, yes.

Loved the movie, I think it is the first one I saw twice at the cinema.
But on TV, you’ve got to wear headphones to get the full effect because it doesn’t work as well without the theme up loud.

u/TheJinManCan 6h ago
Yeah, loved it, too. But yeah, i think that's just typical "home version has the volume set to absolute minimal and you have to crank it to level 70 to hear anything even if you have surround sound" problems.

u/Rubberfootman 6h ago
Very true. It is also the sort of thing I put on when my wife has gone to bed, so I can’t have it particularly loud.

I watched the video on silent and was unimpressed.
Then I turned the audio on and now it’s epic!

I would like to have a friend this close. Imagine just how much time did they spend learning this

This is really impressive! And a fun couples game too to show communication/coordination between the two.
But, I'm more interested in how they started and end this - did one kid run up or just jump on/off the pedal?

I have not seen Pacific Rim, but cool video.

For context, in the movie, it takes 2 people working in unison to pilot a giant mech that's used to fight Kaijus.

I read this and my first thought was this is great one line description of the movie. My 2nd thought was “what a stupid idea for a movie.” Loved it, watched it at least 3 times and will probably watch it again this weekend.
