I’m gonna level a character with 4 friends. It’s gonna be mostly dungeons. I don’t care about xp, cause I’m playing with my friends. That’s gonna be fun.

You have 4 friends that are all down for 800 hours /played to 60?

More like "you have four friends that are down to play!"

At least you guys are finally admitting it's all about XP/hr

True, let's nerf all XP by 75% and we can enjoy the game 75% longer!

•

u/Ejaculpiss 4h ago

stop I can only get so erect

Let's not pretend that wouldn't kill the game lol. Getting XP and progressing your character is part of the fun, it's an RPG after all, progress is pretty much the goal

So not only is it about xp/hr for ur preferred leveling method but also must be competitive with questing speed, while getting rare BOEs, rare recipes and BIS gear.

See the comment you replied to, it doesn't need to be all about xp/hr for xp to be a fun thing in an rpg. Character progress is fundamental in an RPG. How well do you think the game would do if ALL xp was nerfed by 75%? When it dies, it is just because everyone only cared about the xp, or does nuance exist in this world?

It's not a competition, I don't really see a problem with people wanting to run dungeons to level, but I'd be ok with a smaller nerf if it bothers others for some reason. But they've way overcorrected with the 75% nerf on top of the pally/mage/aoe nerfs that were already slowing top performing dungeon groups, who were apparently the intended targets

while getting rare BOEs, rare recipes and BIS gear.

This really only applies in the later levels with potentially bis items, but again I don't have a problem with people running dungeons in their last levels while having a chance at bis. I don't know why anyone would honestly, the world will be packed with nerfed dungeon xp or not

Blizzard has stated that the median leveling speed including the dungeon XP nerfs will be approximately the same comparing vanilla 1-60 and wow forever 1-60.

The main reason why dungeons cannot be optimal or close to optimal for leveling is: The world is the main character. If you are in an instanced dungeon are you a part of the world? (mostly not).

Yeah, no shit people want competetive xp/hour for their efforts. That's like your boss saying "so you admit it's about the money" when you complain about them cutting your wage by 76 %.

it's always been about XP per hour. It needs to be in the same ballpark as questing, but currently it's nowhere near there.

It’s not “all” about XP per hour but I honestly don’t believe there are very many people out there that actually want to play the game in one of the most static repetitive ways possible so that they can quadruple the time it takes to level. Do you think this merry band of adventurers will still want to grind dungeons when it’s January 2027 and they are on their 242nd clear of SM Cath?

So, it's about having fun with friends and doing dungeons or about the XP/hour ?

Just be honest at some point lol "i hate leveling i just want to speedrun it and reach level max as fast as possible"

•

u/devkdup 3h ago

its about playing with friends without gimping your leveling experience. has nothing to do with speedrunning for 99% of people who prefer leveling in dungeons.

this entire idea that anybody leveling in dungeons is a sweaty cleave group hitting hourly lockouts constantly is the most braindead, dishonest load of shit.

just be honest at some point lol "i dont have friends so i want the people who do have friends to come help me with this elite quest in hillsbrad instead of running dungeons >:("

•

u/Manzhah 4h ago

Dunno about you, but most people would get frustrated and quit when they are still at lvl 20 after 30 runs in WC.

•

u/netchris22 3h ago

why can't it be about both? I like being rewarded for doing fun things.

Leveling is my favorite part of the game actually lol.

Yea this was my thought. I’m down to play the game for fun too. But my time is finite lol

Imagine. A whole group of friends. All actually playing because it’s fun. Not pretending like end game is the only game. Not pretending like efficiency matters. Not pretending like speed is the only metric. Just enjoying a fun game with friends for fun.

I miss when that was the norm. That’s the real vibe that made games in the days before wikis and influencers actually fun. Playing because the actual game is fun.

You mean when you were a kids and and near infinite free time? Lmao

u/pringlesnow 6h ago

There is a massive middle ground you are ignoring here lol. I’m not some sweaty minmaxer that thinks everything has to be done optimally, I’ve never used a predetermined optimized leveling route/addon nor have I ever spammed dungeon cleave all the way to 60. I have fun doing a variety of activities in the game. I’m just pointing out that, at current EXP values, dungeon spamming to 60 is effectively quadrupling the time it takes compared to an average player just questing as normal. Unless this guy has a very dedicated group of people specifically doing it as like a meme run or challenge run, I guarantee you most if not all of them are gonna change their minds.

Why do you care how they play the game?
