Forever Beta Feedback Unintended outcomes of the Dungeon XP Nerf

  1. Monster Skip Runs [ More than just end game dungeons ]

  2. Hard Reserving of low level gear [ Not just Cruel Barb ]

  3. Less Tank and Healers leveling [ You see them say it every day on reddit since the nerf ]

  4. Tanks and Healers charging for their services for low level dungeons [ Not just end game ]

  5. Less dungeons begin ran [ Meaning harder to find groups ]

  6. Less social interactions [ Dungeons were the group activity, questing is primarily solo ]

  7. Some dungeons being skipped entirely [ Alliance have no reason to run Shadow Fang Keep since there are no quests and no mob XP ]

There are more issues than just these, I normally just run a dungeon 3-5 times now trying to convince people to do that will be drastically harder.

why would cloth users help me do Scarlett Monetary Armory?

Will people just Skip SM Cath because you have to clear all mobs?

We have never had to ask these questions before and this is why people are so passionate about it, we are supposed to be playing this version Forever.

Just make Boosting a lifetime bannable offense.

I just don’t understand what world the developers are living in if they think questing is social? If I see you at my quest location, you are probably trying to farm the same quest items as me and it just leads to frustration rather than a common goal…

Playing the game for over 20 years, I rarely ever used the chat during questing, as you run from location to location anyway. The social stuff happens on dungeons and during the search for members, no idea what the devs are talking about…

They are likely trying to farm the same quest item(s) as you, but at least in my experience, it's way easier to kill same-level enemies in groups. This can be even better because you can often pull your DPS a bit (i.e., use less resources) without really hampering the kill rate, which makes you have less downtime. (That's more of something for mana-based classes.) Of course, there are also items that are group drops (typically the case if you only need one of the item) or the simple kill quests. In general, it's not a bad idea to group up for quests or to just group in general.

Tone-deaf developers, trying to imprint their own vision onto something that was already great.

All they had to do was carefully add extras and rework classes here and there to make them relevant.

"The developers in 2004 didn't intend you to dungeon grind"

=> Opens Jeff Kaplan video about dungeon design in 2004

=> JK : We wanted you to take breaks from the open world when zones became too populated and same faction players were essentially treating each other as hostile, stealing tags.

Yeah but don't you get it?!?!? With the new layering system, zone's will be constantly packed full so....you.........wanna quest more.......................right?

I think you missed the purpose of what he was saying. https://youtu.be/Ud9h8UpcC4E?si=wapHMAmyJjZr7KdY 19:00 “Most players on what I call level up dungeons go there once or maybe twice, they dont want to spend a lot of time doing the dungeon over and over again...in fact they get resentful if they feel they have to do the dungeon over and over again".  Dungeons had loot and xp to make up for travel and grouping time. The dungeon grinding meta hadnt really developed yet, and if it had these guys wouldve done the same thing.  They talk later in the vid about adding player caps to dungeons so people dont do weird shit like 20 man WC runs

I personally find questing to be more social because it's generally more relaxed than running a dungeon. There's more of an emphasis on speed in a dungeon, so less downtime to chat. Though I have made good friends from dungeons too.

Honestly they should just let people have the social experience that arises from playing how they want. The open world isn't going to be empty with these megaservers. The dungeon xp nerf feels like the wrong tool to try fostering social interaction.

I have great organic experiences when questing on wow classic idk how you aren’t.

some of the quests yeah its best to hit that spot solo but theres tons of quests where it's better to just group up and kill the whole camp but people refuse

•

u/goopuslang 2h ago

The ppl that refuse are in this post

agreed, questing is only social if you start with a bud at the beginning to the end of a zone

I would suggest inviting them, as is intended.

Those who say this just refuse to be social. Be the change you want to see in the game. It's a community-driven game. We decide if something is social or not.

Group up to get those quests done faster.

I shouldn’t be expected to out of my way to help people get quests done and I don’t expect the same from anyone else

Then stop complaining when questing feels lile standing in line waiting for your turn. Why are you even playing a multiplayer game if you don't want to engage with it?

You understand that levelling your character is just 5% of the gameplay right?
