Forever Beta Feedback Revert Dungeon EXP changes.

Just fighting the good fight again. Punishing players who want to group up and play with friends is wrong and feels bad.

Not to mention issues like potentially lowering the amount of tanks and healers who want to get into dungeon and group content because they can no longer level via dungeons effectively.

You think you are stopping the boosters and super sweats in their tracks, but you are mistaken. The sweats will just sweat to 60 anyway they can.

You are hurting the average gamer who just likes running dungeons for a few hours here and there with friends when they want a break from solo questing. Actual social gameplay is being punished here and it’s sad.

For me the reward of Dungeons was always the Loot and the Fun.  Some XP is nice, but I never just mashed dungeons for XP.  Even with the nerfs, my approach to dungeons won't be changing at all.  I will want to run many of them many times to get my sweet drops.

u/Clean-Industry6256 12h ago

That was my approach as well, but in game I didn't expect to feel so shitty about the missing xp, but it's ahitty enough to force it's way into my attention, since we all do somewhat pay attention to our xp bar

A sweet drop at anything below level 30 is replaced by quest gear almost immediately.

There's an argument of having fun, then there's the other one about respecting your time. If it takes you 4 runs (up to 4 hours) to get your drop, and you replace it within 2 hours of questing - Your time was completely wasted.

I have time to waste.  Group content is my favorite part of WoW and I love running dungeons in a group that doesn't try to just skip and speed through everything.  Who cares if it may be rendered obsolete within a few levels?  At least I had fun earning it and I can always disenchant it when I'm done.

I am a player who farmed ZF until I had earned Sul'Thraze the Lasher, knowing full well it could be almost immediately replaced by Ice Barbed Spear.  I had fun earning it, and my time was not wasted.

u/Elf_Fuck 11h ago

You are going to have people doing as many skips as possible because there’s no reason not to skip except fun, and killing mobs with no return just isn’t fun for some people. Like you, I want to full clear a dungeon and it’s already hard getting my party to kill out of the way groups. Now that they don’t get xp they just won’t do it.

Okay, whatever relevance you get out of this in your own head is not how the majority of players think. The objective of the game is a simple vertical progression one - Get stronger, Get to max level, Kill the hardest content.

Why would I stop to farm a level 30 weapon for 4 hours, I'm not going to remember it at level 35, let alone level 40, 50, 60. It's not just about the experience feeling lame, it's that my time isn't being respected at all. Nobody will remember the times you cleared Wailing Caverns for the 19th time in search of your fang set, it's just another forgotten page of history that nobody cares about.

So its fair to say the whole topic doesnt apply to you whatsoever. Stay out of it. Some of us very much want to be able to level in dungeons.

11

u/ASaGHost 12h ago

It affects everyone actually. The dumbass changes will means less people run dungeons overall, so it will be harder and more time consuming to find groups, even if you are not the type of player that doesnt mind pushing boulders up hills.

2

u/Dark1sh 12h ago

Are you gate keeping victimization? lmao

3

u/jiff1912 11h ago

Nice edit dumbass.

Thanks, I’m sorry Wow is your identity. Good luck out there

3

u/Kalo17 12h ago

Well I don’t want you to so this topic doesn’t apply to you whatsoever. StAy oUt Of It!!!. My god you sound like such a neckbeard lmao

1

u/Unable-Garage593 11h ago

Noone is advocating for taking the loot away from dungeons
So YOU like Dungeons and will keep doing them because of loot... Okay? What's the useful insight here?

-2

u/ianxplosion- 12h ago

You still can

5

u/Chlearcus 12h ago

Why even bother with this bullshit semantics argument? Of course you can as long as the mobs give atleast 1xp each but it will take so absurdly long compared to anything else that it's obviously not truly viable.

10

u/jiff1912 12h ago

Theyre arguing in bad faith. Theyre weird.

-3

u/ianxplosion- 10h ago

No u lmao Jesus Christ

-4

u/ianxplosion- 10h ago

Except it’s still perfectly viable.

The developers of THIS version of the game want to incentivize people to spend more time outside of dungeons for the leveling experience, and this is the way they implemented that design.

It’s still perfectly viable to rerun dungeons, you get uncontested loot opportunities and slightly less experience than before.

3

u/Chlearcus 10h ago

"Slightly less"

It's about 1/4th the efficiency of questing. No sane person would choose such a bad alternative. Instead of ~6 days of ingame play time you'd basically spend an entire month of nonstop grinding.

people like you are the reason dungeon XP got nerfed btw. cry harder plz. i wouldn't care even if dungeons and dungeon quests gave no XP at all.

4

u/jiff1912 12h ago

I dont care about you or how you level at all. Why you so obsessed with how others want to play the game?

0

u/Coycington 11h ago

if you WANTED to play the game though dungeons you wouldn't care about the XP changes and wouldn't behave like an angry toddler. no. you want to optimize it to be faster than the rest. kick cans.

1

u/mcbaginns 7h ago

Lmao people who want to level in dungeons don't care about xp in dungeons? Listen to yourself

1

u/ChatotheChug 11h ago

Peak classic Andy with no friends take. Nice.

It's like saying if someone want's to vote for another candidate than you then they shouldn't vote at all because you don't like the other one. Some of us like the game as it is now, we don't want it changed. Our opinion doesn't mean less than yours.

2

u/jiff1912 11h ago

Really bad analogy. How i level has no impact on your game experience whatsoever.

What a childish reply.

go play retail

-2

u/Kabaal 12h ago

This is true of the vast majority of players.

Boosters and dungeon spammers don't matter, and Forever isn't built for them.

2

u/BertDeathStare 11h ago

Nah I think the vast majority of players also do it for xp. Also not everyone who likes doing dungeons for loot and xp is a dungeon spammer lol. Have some nuance.

0

u/loosejuicegod 11h ago

Don't you understand? No one will normally do dungeons. A lv60 will run you through and clear the quests and get the loot. It takes 5 minutes for them to do this. Why spend an hour on a normal run? The mobs don't give xp. You'd have to be a fool to do leveling dungeons normally. They've just made boosting from mob xp to quest xp.

3

u/Cidergregg 9h ago

Not all of us use boosts or ever pay gold for someone to play our game for us.  I'm pretty sure that in a megaserver I'll be able to find some like-minded individuals who also actually enjoy playing the game.  They'll become friends, we'll continue play together.  This is the way I have done it Forever.

1

u/loosejuicegod 9h ago

That's true, more power to you. I'm willing to bet you won't be having as much fun wading through hundreds of Paid Quest Runs to find a normal run. Or being unable to fill because regular runs are effectively phased out. Having people quit your group if their piece of gear doesn't drop, or if they finish their quest. This will lead to tremendous maladaptive behavior. They've effectively rewarded toxicity.

1

u/Cidergregg 9h ago

Yeah, having been paying attention to Reddit and seeing the obsession with the meta and efficiency I do have concerns.  I'm not pro-XP nerf, but it won't stop me from playing the way I always have simply because I think dungeons are the most fun part of the game.

If it is a nightmare/headache to actually run a full dungeon then I'll basically be forced to find a guild about 40 levels earlier than I've ever sought one out before.  Finding like-minded players who enjoy the game will be the key to me enjoying it the way I like to.

I do loathe me some toxic players.

0

u/Billbuckingham 9h ago

This is ridiculous hyperbole, also you'll still get no EXP from the 60 so what are you complaining about?

How did that 60 get to 60 with no dungeon spamming???

Oh man, it's like there might be other options, or they just spammed anyway and still hit 60...

It's a ridiculous thing where people are making up all kinds of BS that isn't true to try to push an agenda.

1

u/loosejuicegod 8h ago

Hahaha what are you even trying to say? You're not making any sense. People will hit lv60 without dungeons, you don't need dungeons to level quickly. It's 40% easier to level in Forever than Era. My point is people will not do regular dungeon runs once lv60s exist. They will have a guildy or friend or pay 1g to have a 60 do the dungeon for them, they will get the quests done (which is where the xp is) and gear. Killing dungeon xp means they've killed any incentive to do leveling dungeons normally. Genuinely this is a concept I'd expect even a 7 year old to be able to grasp.

0

u/Billbuckingham 8h ago

People absolutely will do regular dungeon runs when 60's exist.

Friends used to run people thru dungeons all the time but it was rarer and almost always was just for the items and some quests and it never stopped anyone from doing normal dungeon runs.

That's how it was before... Only problem was that turned into Boosters selling AFK dungeon boosts...

The thing about it is your concept is 100% wrong, that won't happen.

People will still run dungeons normally, the quests are worth it, you get your group, people will still run them.

What you're saying is made up and not true, let's say people still run just fine when there's 60's which I'm saying they will, what then?

1

u/loosejuicegod 8h ago

Friends used to run people thru dungeons all the time but it was rarer and almost always was just for the items and some quests and it never stopped anyone from doing normal dungeon runs.

Because normal dungeon runs gave norm xp. Now they don't. The incentive to do dungeons normally has been completely removed from the game. How are you not grasping this?? It will NOT be like it was before because dungeons are fundamentally different than before. I applaud your optimist but you've given me absolutely nothing to support your claim and I've given indepth explanations as to why it's different.

-4

u/Billbuckingham 7h ago

You're missing the point entirely, and your whole premise is made up and proven not to be true in the beta so far, and it won't be true after release when there's 60's either.

Did people in the beta not run the lower level dungeons and have the level 30's just rush them thru?

No, they could've, but they didn't. So there's proof first of all.

The vast majority of people who run dungeons, only ever run them once or maybe twice.

In fact the vast majority of people always went out of their want to only run the dungeon once and complete all the quests and get all of their items in 1 run.

The support for my claim is the facts and the proof of the beta that actually happened, your claim is based on something that hasn't happened yet, so it will be proven wrong when the game comes out.

What's your claim "After the dungeon nerfs no one will run dungeons."

Ok well they still do, and they actually did in real life in the beta, so that's proof.

"No I mean when there's 60's no one will"

Ok well that hasn't happened yet, and I'd bet you when there are 60's people will still run dungeons, so what's your point?

1

u/loosejuicegod 7h ago

Hahaha the Beta had 0 incentive to level fast. Leveling fast got you nothing but level cap sooner. It also had no level 60s. Comparing that to what I'm saying will occur is comical at best and overtly misleading at worst. A lv30 isn't going to run people through instances nearly as effectively ad a lv60 regardless so the comparison is nonexistent. The primary incentive to run people through dungeons is gold, which was meaningless as well in the beta. Comparing that game play to the real version is a joke. I'm telling you for a fact I'm right.

-4

u/Billbuckingham 7h ago

You're saying things that aren't true.

Lots of people rushed multiple characters, people even bought gold in the beta, so saying people wouldn't try to level fast is just wrong.

Saying people are going to just start selling dungeon runs is a whole nother discussion.

"I'm telling you for a fact I'm right"

Even though you have 0 facts, and it hasn't happened yet, and all of history shows you're wrong.

Yep...

1

u/loosejuicegod 7h ago

Comparing the history of a game with great xp in dungeons to a version of the game with no xp in dungeons and pretending like they're the same just makes you look dumb, can't you see that? I feel like it should be insanely obvious
