At this point all we can do is laugh, cry and pray.

The tauren change was a massive nerf imo.

2% crit damage (going from 200% to 204%) breaks even with 1% hit at around 25% crit chance and doesn't force you into worse gear choices in case you're overcapping hit. It's literally a buff

You might wanna double check your math there.

If you have 25% crit and you attack 100 times, 25 of those hits will be critical and deal 4% increased damage. Meaning overall you will deal 1 additional normal attack worth of damage (4% * 25 = 100%)

+1% hit on the other hand (assuming not hit capped) will deal, on average, one additional attack over 100 attacks, but crucially, this attack can crit so instead of +1% hit being valued as 1 additional normal hit, it is valued at 125% of a normal hit.

That +1% hit is even better on a warrior since not only do you get an actual additional attack which generates rage (compared to +2% crit damage being only the damage equivalent of an extra attack) but it can crit which gives you even more rage.

But, regardless, it would only break even at 33% crit and that's assuming that you aren't gaining any extraneous benefit from hitting an additional attack which is pretty hard to imagine.

Also, it's even worse as a caster without critical damage bonus talents since your crits are only 150% of normal damage.

I don't think there's a single caster that doesn't get those talents. And for melee you'll be shifting gear around hit cap (which is only 9% and there's hit talents) or in case of dual wield will just be a stat that gives your off-hand hit chance at max level. Only casters with 17% hit cap can make use of it, and even if you need a lot of crit for it to beat the hit chance, it's only in raid you actually need that much hit and only against 63s or bosses. Crit damage is better in almost every scenario, except when you need hit and don't have a lot of crit (such as when you're leveling, but who cares?)

For dual wielding there's a very narrow band of gear for which hit chance isn't the definitively stronger stat. Below yellow hit cap +hit is better. Above yellow hit cap hit falls off but with low crit chance the +crit damage sucks. As crit chance gets higher they become comparable, but as you get to the white crit cap +hit gets really good again because 1% of the time for white attacks instead of missing you crit.
