Almost like the SD models were an afterthought and not planned for the game

Its crazy to me that they were fully prepared to release classic plus with retail models and be like, yep, this is exactly what people want

I mean, I see the idea behind it. If Classic+ is supposed to be a reimagined and updated version of Classic it makes sense that they'd have new models.

Whether or not it was the right move is up to individual taste but the logic is there whether you agree with it or not.

Having new models is not the same as importing retail models though. The current implementation is just lazy.

I don't disagree, but I don't see how much different a "new" model could really look from what they've already done in Retail before it stops looking like WoW.

This is a peculiar phrasing. It implies that both the original and redone models now in HD toggle (and in retail following the removal of the HD toggle there) "look like WoW" in a comparable way. Surely you have seen some of the conversation, comparisons and mockups surrounding this? How divergent the retail models are from the original artstyle? New models would be higher definition recreations of the original aesthetic, would sit between the two and look more like WoW, not further past retail and less like WoW.
