Discussion Can we finally get some improvements on desktop Tab Groups?

  1. Could we PLEASE add a tab to a Tab Group without having to have group open?
  2. Searching tab groups would be AMAZING.
  3. Also, manual/alpha/age sorting is desperately needed.

Troubleshooting | Windows Spike on temperature everytime i open a new tab from times to times

I've been noticing recently that when i open a new tab on chrome Suddenly my AIO starts making noise and the CPU temperature suddenly rises to 70°C, dropping back to the normal temperature of 45-50°C after about 3 to 5 seconds. when i delete all the history, cache, or even complete uninstall and reinstall seems to fix for some days, like almost for one week sometimes, but the problem comes back eventually.

I don't use any extensions in Chrome and the problem doesn't occur in other browsers like Firefox or Edge.

my pc uses a CPU Ryzen 9700x, 32gb ram, GPU rtx 5060ti 16gb, system and browsers installed in a NVME kingston nv3.

any idea on what causing this problem?

Discussion Which dark mode extension for google docs is the safest/best?

The fact that I have to use an extension for something as basic as a dark mode is absurd to begin with but I also want to make sure the one I'm using is safe. Even though I'd only ever download it off the chrome web store, that unfortunately doesn't guarantee that it's safe/doesn't steal your data or anything (though I suppose google docs itself does that too these days...). Regardless, please suggest which one you think is the best to go with.

Troubleshooting | Windows Chrome becomes unusable in fullscreen mode on secondary monitors when the taskbar is hidden

Hi everyone,

Starting today, I've been experiencing a strange issue with Google Chrome on Windows 11.

Whenever I open Chrome in fullscreen mode on a monitor other than my primary one, with the taskbar hidden, the browser becomes unusable.

The issue immediately disappears if I re-enable the taskbar on my secondary monitors.

Has anyone else experienced this problem recently? Does anyone know what might be causing it or how to fix it without having to keep the taskbar visible on secondary monitors?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Google Chrome, for the love of God, stop asking me to "Relaunch to update"

Seriously, who thought this was a good user experience?

I’m in the middle of work, have 20 tabs open and Chrome decides it’s the perfect time to remind me that I need to relaunch to update.

Look, if this happened once in a while, I’d be totally fine with it. But it’s LITERALLY EVERY OTHER DAY.

Here’s a crazy idea, Google: HOW ABOUT YOU JUST UPDATE THE NEXT TIME I OPEN THE BROWSER?

You know, silently. In the background. Without making it my problem.

I don’t need a reminder every other day. I don’t need a colorful update button staring at me. And I definitely don’t need my browser constantly begging for a restart.

It’s 2026. Surely there’s a better way to handle browser updates without constantly nagging users.

Troubleshooting | Windows Chrome 155 History 'Windows and tabs' Display Lost

I've used Chrome tabs in different window instances to manage stuff I need to do. On restart today, a notice Chrome had updated, and the Windows History option is gone. This previously displayed each window in history as "54 tabs open", and you could resurrect the entire instance just as it had been.

Now I can only opt between straight date order, or grouped by subject. Means those windows with multiple tabs opened over months are gone.

Looked at flags, policies, and can't see any way to re-enable this.

Am I missing something obvious, or is this another one of those 'surprise! the feature you've used for years is gone!' moments? Windows 11 Enterprise. Chrome 155.0.8059.85. Tried the extended history app, which has the same limitation.

Troubleshooting | Windows Sharpness difference when full screen youtube in chrome

On the left, i had a chrome browser, AT full screen, when i hit the fullscreen button on the youtube video, it looks like that, slight blur on all the text.

On the right, i had a chrome browser, NOT full screen, When i hit the fullscreen button on the youtube video, it looks like its applying some kind of sharpen to everything?

The only thing i can find that stops this is turning off hardware acceleration.. what gives?

Discussion Is there a way to permanently hide a specific section of a website in Chrome across Windows PC, Android phone and tablet?

I NEED IT FOR TONIGHT PLSS 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some technical advice.

I'd like to know if it's possible to permanently hide a specific HTML element or section of a website, rather than blocking the entire website or deleting anything from it.

The devices involved are:

  • A Windows laptop running Google Chrome
  • An Android smartphone running Google Chrome
  • An Android tablet running Google Chrome

I found this Chrome extension for Windows, which seems to do exactly what I'm looking for:

Hide Elements – Chrome Extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hide-elements/jbleblnoidbkgapocpbemfeiajlckmbj

According to its description, it lets you select an element on a webpage, hide it, and save the rule so that the element remains hidden when you revisit or refresh the page.

However, the extension doesn't appear to be available for Chrome on Android. I'm wondering whether there are any alternatives that offer similar functionality on Android, or whether there's a way to achieve consistent results across all three devices.

My specific requirements are:

  • Hide only one particular section of a webpage, not the entire website.
  • Keep the element hidden after closing and reopening the browser.
  • Find a solution for both Android and Windows.
  • Ideally, manage the same rules across all three devices, if possible.

Why I need this:

There's a school website whose homepage displays an announcement that I'd prefer not to have immediately visible on a family member's devices. I don't want to modify the public website or remove the announcement for anyone else. I'm only interested in understanding whether browser-side customization can change how a particular page is displayed locally.

I'm aware that hiding an element doesn't remove the underlying content from the website, and that browser extensions may have access to webpage data depending on their permissions.

Has anyone tried a tool that can do this reliably? a content-filtering extension? I'd really appreciate any suggestions, especially from people who have experience with Chrome extensions and Android browsers. Thanks!

Discussion browser chromium blurs pictures

Any browser on Chromium blurs images. Does anyone have an explanation for this? I checked all browsers, and the history is the same everywhere.

I was working on my website, and the blurry images started to really annoy me. I thought it was a problem with the website or hosting, but the problem is global...

On the left is a photo opened in the program; on the right is a postcard in the browser.

Discussion Extension for keyboard shorcuts to manage split tab

Regarding the relatively new split tabs feature, do you know if there is any extension that allows for keyboard shortcuts to resize the split screen distribution between tabs, to fixed proportions like 30:70, 50:50, 70:30 or such (even better if you can customize the proportions).

I've been looking around but found nothing :/ the follow up question is if you have an educated feeling for how doable would it be to create such extension? I was about to try but a quick look into it made me think it is not possible since Chrome Extension API seems to not facilitate handlers for the "resizing bar" that splits the vew for the tabs.

Thanks a lot!

Troubleshooting | Windows how can i change the chrome UI on mobile (not found in settings)?

Hi, I just updated Chrome on my phone after quite a few days of it pestering me to do so. I have auto-update disabled on pretty much my whole phone so I have no clue how old this update is. I have the issue other people have been having where it sends you to a random tab group when you close a tab, in case that's relevant.

I've included pictures of what the UI looks like now. I want it back the way it was, with the tab number thingy and new tab at the top!!! I have hand mobility issues, so this isn't just an aesthetics issue for me. I didn't have the AI at the bottom like I saw some Safari users have; it was at the top and I disabled it already. I've gone through all the settings, even tried some things in //flags that I saw people recommend, but I just can't get it to go back to how it was. I would really appreciate any help with this!

Discussion How do I get rid of Gemini

For the love of GOD how do I get rid of Gemini showing up in the exact spot where it used to have 'search Google for'? I will never use it. I hate that it's inserted there to make people accidentally click on that instead of search. I KNOW that option is right under but I don't care, I want Gemini gone. I already installed an app to get rid of it elsewhere. I do not want this feature. I HATE this feature. In my work I have to do searches all day on highlighted terms so I have screwed up a thousand times already and opened this stupid AI program that doesn't give me what I need.
