I NEED IT FOR TONIGHT PLSS 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi everyone! I'm looking for some technical advice.
I'd like to know if it's possible to permanently hide a specific HTML element or section of a website, rather than blocking the entire website or deleting anything from it.
The devices involved are:
- A Windows laptop running Google Chrome
- An Android smartphone running Google Chrome
- An Android tablet running Google Chrome
I found this Chrome extension for Windows, which seems to do exactly what I'm looking for:
Hide Elements – Chrome Extension:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hide-elements/jbleblnoidbkgapocpbemfeiajlckmbj
According to its description, it lets you select an element on a webpage, hide it, and save the rule so that the element remains hidden when you revisit or refresh the page.
However, the extension doesn't appear to be available for Chrome on Android. I'm wondering whether there are any alternatives that offer similar functionality on Android, or whether there's a way to achieve consistent results across all three devices.
My specific requirements are:
- Hide only one particular section of a webpage, not the entire website.
- Keep the element hidden after closing and reopening the browser.
- Find a solution for both Android and Windows.
- Ideally, manage the same rules across all three devices, if possible.
Why I need this:
There's a school website whose homepage displays an announcement that I'd prefer not to have immediately visible on a family member's devices. I don't want to modify the public website or remove the announcement for anyone else. I'm only interested in understanding whether browser-side customization can change how a particular page is displayed locally.
I'm aware that hiding an element doesn't remove the underlying content from the website, and that browser extensions may have access to webpage data depending on their permissions.
Has anyone tried a tool that can do this reliably? a content-filtering extension?
I'd really appreciate any suggestions, especially from people who have experience with Chrome extensions and Android browsers. Thanks!
