Advice How to teach my cat how to eat wet food?

• Upvotes

So I have a 4-year-old cat named pumpkin and she is like hella dumb

And I love her for this but I have always kept some cans of wet food just in case if I run out of dry food before I remember to buy more and last time I got some I got a different brand that I normally do

Well a while later it came time where I had to use it because I forgot to pick up more dry food and I put it on her bowl because she was complaining about being hungry and she was just licking it

Like she was just trying to lick the Pate into her mouth not actually taking a bite

Is there any way for me to teach her that you actually have to bite into this?

Mourning/Loss Saying goodbye to my Soul Cat, why does it hurt so much.

Yesterday it was Arthurs final day. I had to make the hardest decision of my life but lets start from the beginning.

I moved out at 18 and never had pets but my ex-girlfriend wanted cats so we decided to look around for a race that could live in an appartment. We found out that Bombay is the perfect fit and contacted a breeder.

She had no kittens left but took back two 2-year old brothers from an abusive family, who had been locking them away in a tiny room and hitting them. She said chances are slim that they will regain their will to live and she would normally put them to sleep.

So we took Arthur and Aramis (we kept their names) in and after a few months of living side by side they gained back their trust to humans and they've been the cuddliest boys ever since. They conquered my heart and I took an oath to never let them suffer again.

They still feared new smells and new people especially man with deep voices and we tried letting them out but they got so overwhelmed that we decided to keep them inside.

Everyone that came to visit us loved them and while Aramis was outgoing and made sure everyone gets to pet him, Arthur was shy and conservative when it came to new people. But he was very focused on me, and over the years Arthur and I bonded in a special way. And while I love them both to no end Arthur became my soulcat

They've been with me ever since and supported me through every major and minor decisions in my adult life.

They've been with me through every big change in my life from the heartbreak of my ex-girlfriend breaking up with me, to finding my wife and marrying her, to losing my dad to brain cancer, buying a house and also the birth of my son.

This summer we took him to the vet since he had, what we believed to be, a sinus infection but It turned out that his lungs had a tumor and were failing and also his heart got arythmic. The doctor prescribed meds and gave us a few months maybe a year, sadly it got worse by the day after only a few weeks.

So I had to make the hardest decision of my life and put Arthur to sleep. I think he knew that his time had come and we spent the last days close together saying goodbye to each other.

I know it's the right decision to let him go at the age of 16(several different vets assured me), he could pass away peacefully at home with us and everyone especially Aramis got to say their goodbyes.

But it tears me apart on the inside. I am writing this while lying in bed, crying, Aramis curled up against me, another night without sleep fearing the morning without me best friend.

Goodbye Arthur , Arthi Barti or Count Arthula you will be missed dearly. I don't know how life will be without you but I hope you had a wonderful life with me, I sure enjoyed our 14 years together. There will never be another one like you my special boy.

Please tell me everything will be alright because right now it feels like my world is falling apart and my heart is shredded to pieces. I would give everything for another day with you

Mourning/Loss Looking for Frisco Pineapple Collar

A bit of an odd/longshot request...

I recently lost my best friend of 15 years, and desperately want to re-buy the last collar he wore long term. Unfortunately, the one he had was broken earlier in the year at a vet visit and discarded. The new one I had bought doesn't feel quite the same and I'd like to get this one back for his memorial box.

I'm happy to pay more than the collar cost + shipping. It really would mean the world to me. 💖

Cat Picture - OC lumi & sootie plus a tortle

So I believe I have had these babies for about four weeks which would make them eight or nine weeks old. They’re cleared of worms and fleas and everything came back in the clear from bloodwork. I started letting them mingle with the other cats, Tortle, 1yo and Sally 9yo. Tortle has begun coming around and has started playing with them and all three sleeping within the same bed. Sally has been a little slower to come around. She doesn’t go after them but doesn’t really like them getting too close.
I’ve never had cats this young before. But these two are the fastest little balls of fluff I’ve ever seen. It’s so funny watching them run. Lumi is very food-driven and will accidentally hard-chomp on your fingers if you’re not careful giving her treats. Then swiftly fall asleep like she’s been at work all day haha.
Sootie is very gentle and very sweet, and will not bite your fingers off. Instead she will be your little shadow and follow you everywhere you go, but keep an eye on her, she gets lost easily.

Just adopted an 8 year old "Beauty" which is her current name though I'm probably going to rename her and come up with 10 nick names. My first baby Zoe passed at 19 years old May 15th, had her from 6 months old. I still grieve her but was finally ready after 5 months. At first I was looking for a tortie kitten like Zoe but just felt a connection with Beauty. 😸

Advice Help with door aggression. 🩸😾

Sometimes my dad leaves his apartment for a weekend or so, and I am on catsitting duty. That is not an issue except for the fact that his cat keeps mauling me, and it's terrifying. When he hears me unlock the apartment door, he is on the other side hissing and screaming, and if I open the door, he starts mauling me, and does not relent or run away. He will keep attacking, and tries to jump at my face. He does not let go when biting, and thrashes his head when he is biting, which tears skin open. Thankfully I wear baggy clothes or layers to protect myself now, but it's horrifying. He even poops out of fear when attacking me, and it's very odd. He does not snap out of it, and I can't get him to stop charging me and screaming. But he absolutely needs to be fed. I tried the blanket method, by holding a blanket so he can attack that instead of me, but he looks me right in my eyes, and tries to jump at my head instead, it's really shocking. Anyone else have a cat like this? He is already medicated with a daily calming medicine the vets prescribed, and it goes into his food, but I don't think it's working well. He loves my dad, and has chosen my father as his sole friend. I need help so badly with this guy!!!

Advice Do I get a second cat??

Post image
• Upvotes

I have been thinking this over for the past 4 months and I cannot decide what would be best. My cat is a female tabby who is about 4 years old. I took her in about a year and a half ago when my ex was living with me and his two cats already lived in my house. Both cats were male and my cat absolutely loved the younger more social one. They would nap together and play together and chase each other all the time. When we broke up and he moved out with his two cats, I noticed my cat became much more vocal and clingy. She seems to get more bored and has started chewing on things. When he moved out we considered having him take my cat with him too, but she has a very strong preference for me and if I was home, many times she would choose to spend time around me than be with his cat. She still eats and drinks fine and will play with me but I’m wondering if she would be even happier if I got her a companion. I know cats can sometimes be perfectly happy as solitary animals, but I am just so unsure!! I want to do right by her. Any advice or experience anyone has would be greatly appreciated! (Pic of her for tax)

Advice Litter box placement advice

• Upvotes

Hello everyone!

For anyone that lives in a smaller sized home... where do you put your litter boxes? 😭

Let me explain really fast lol so, I have no space at all, my bathroom is way too small to put in, I live with my mom and grandmother and their bathroom is also small, I can't put it in our garage because there's no way for him to get out there. I can't afford to but any of the fancy litter box furniture disguises, so right now it's sitting in my bedroom. I do my best to control any odor but of course that's not always inevitable. We rent so I can't make any changes to anything like making a little doggy door so he could go to the garage plus I don't want him in there because then I'd never find him lol

So I'm here seeking advice from anyone who can help, thank you all in advance 🤍

Mourning/Loss Tribute to the greatest cat ever

Selina came into my life as a recovering kitten who had almost perished from an infection. We bonded so fast and she quickly became one of the friendliest cats I have ever known.

The girl I had a crush on saw me in a new light looking after this poor cat in need, and I totally credit Selina for tricking my now-wife into falling in love with me 😂

Her infection left her with a bad eye that was prone to ulcers and required constant vet visits and treatment. Through it all she always stayed so sweet and outgoing, to the point where multiple vet techs over the years told me they loved when she came in because she was so easy going.

She was with us when we bought our first home together, and not long after that we finally decided to have the eye removed. This proved to be a good decision and ultimately made her more comfortable, and even the day of the surgery she came home upbeat and wanting to hang out on the couch. 2 days later we had a Halloween party and she had the best costume (lol) and was still downstairs visitng everyone despite her condition.

She was with us when our first child joined the family. At first she had zero interest in the new baby, but before long she spent more and more time with Amelia eventually following her everywhere ❤️

She had always been an outdoor cat, as much as it always worried me it was where she wanted to be so bad. She would always become so sad after being kept inside too long, and I always caved. One day, my worst fear was realized when she ventured outside and never came back. We have posters all over the neighborhood, notified all kinds of community groups and contacted nearby shelters. I even hired Pet Finders to scour the neighborhood with a bloodhound.

After a month, we've accepted our sweet girl isnt coming home. We didnt have a body to bury, so I put together a box of memories including photos, some fur, her toys, and some whiskers (my wife has a collection of them she found over the years).

To mark the grave I found a garden sculpture that looked just like her. We buried her memories in the woods out back, where she almost certainly left us for good, and played the little statue facing home.

I'll love her forever, goodbye Selina and thank you do much ❤️❤️❤️💔
