News Microsoft says it's optimizing Windows 11 for 8GB PCs, so I tested 26H2 on an 8GB laptop.

Welcome to the monthly Simple questions and Help thread, for questions that don't need their own posts!
Before making a comment, we recommend you search your problem on Bing and check if your question is already answered on our Windows Frequently Asked Questions wiki page. This subreddit no longer accepts tech support requests outside of this post, if you are looking for additional assistance try r/TechSupport and r/WindowsHelp.
Some examples of questions to ask:
Is this super cheap Windows key legitimate? (probably not)
How can I install Windows 11?
Can you recommend a program to play music?
How do I get back to the old Sound Control Panel?
Sorting by New is recommend and is the default.

Microsoft claims up to 20% improvement in performance from recent update. Is anyone actually noticing since last month's preview update or this month's cumulative update? I'm curious if anyone out there actually regularly uses a Windows 11 machine with only 8GB of RAM and if you've seen a difference as it sounds like it would help in those scenarios even more. I've long since abandoned anything with less than 16GB of RAM a decade ago. With the RAM pricing being what it is, optimizations are welcomed, but I wonder if this is having a real-world impact, or just a Microsoft labs measurement.

I've noticed some really strange behavior in Windows 11 Insider Experimental build 26340.9750. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but something doesn't seem right.
I've described the issues in more detail in my Feedback Hub report, including additional findings in the comments.
If you're curious, please check it out:

Has anyone else noticed anything unusual in this build?

I found the app in the Microsoft Store, tried it, and revealed that it's basically a web app built inside of a WebView2-based application. Microsoft is still making web apps for Windows, and it's totally a hassle.

My laptop runs on wndows11 25h2.
I only use it for looking at sites of major newspapers, wikipedia and reading reddit.
I cannot update my laptop with 26h2.
Is there any risk to keep using my laptop the way I do without updating to 26h2?
If so, which risks are there?
greetings

OK, I know I'm posting this on a Monday, but depending on how things go here I might make this an automated weekly post.
Got a cool program you made or found, and want to share it with the world? Post it here! Our usual restrictions preventing self promotion in this subreddit will not apply in this thread, so you do not need to be one of our currently verified/flaired developers.
Go ahead, tell us about the program and share a link!
While not required, we do ask that you disclose your usage of AI tools to create the program, artwork, documentation and so on, this way others can better understand what your program is and is not.

I was trying to see if I can set up my Yubikeys to work as approval for admin elevation, in a similar way you can make sudo work on linux via pam-u2f, did anyone manage it?
I saw on the Yubi website you can use their software for session login https://www.yubico.com/products/computer-login-tools/ ...but i don't really want just this... I want the behavior that any time an Admin elevation prompt happens, instead of providing my password or pin, I can touch my Yubikey.

I am using "Admin approval mode with Administrator protection" ... but the only accepted options is just the password... and Windows Hello doesn't accept the Yubikey. Did anyone manage to figure it out?

It's just much nicer honestly, winget is amazing, screenshot tool is amazing, nvidia works out of the box, sound is very good, display is very good, everything is in a cohesive settings program, okay im starting to sound like I'm paid by microsoft
One thing I enjoyed in linux that I dislike in windows is the need for restarting the system while updating/installing programs (like I installed docker)
and with WSL, I just no longer have a need for linux as a desktop user, well I guess I never did
I really miss the AUR though but winget is good enough
Windows does a pretty good job of becoming invisible so that I can focus on getting stuff done

I love windows 95 except it's slow and outdated, so I guess I only like the style. it's a sleeper build until you see graphics or just the pc LOL.
