I feel like this building is very underrated among our historical heritages

First cool and I think coolest fact about Ismail Samani mausoleum is the fact that it had little to no restoration work the fact that this thing is from 11 centry almost untouched for most of the last millenium beein laying under the sand and only in the last century discovered

This place survived so much mongol conquest, timurid internal conflicts and all the internal conflicts after timurids between uzbeks, russian empire and so much more

One of the absolute last remnants of the pre-islamic world Samani dynasty who were originally from Balkh and descend from some top generals or just influental people in Sasanian empire which in turns goes to ancient persia

The mausoleum itself is super cool and absolutely one of the most unique islamic buildings in our country what makes it so uniqe is obviously its mixed architecture mixed with pre-islamic central asian architecture and islamic elemtns, all of it was done by brick, lots of details and complexity and obviously its amazing symmetry

In person it looks so much more grandeur

Btw second building which looks architecturally very similar to Samani mausoleum is from my old town it's from 12th century when Samanid architecture was still primariy way of building places though this one had been restored but still i think it's a cool fact one of fewest examples of Samanid architecture

discussion | muhokama APK Qoʻriqchi. Is it a spyware?

I've decompiled the app and read the manifest, the accessibility service and the background service. The build (v1.2.15, package com.baxtiyorov.security) is not a spyware as far as I can tell. The app requests these permissions:

  • MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, plus READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
  • QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES and REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES
  • INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
  • Foreground service, boot-start, battery-optimization exemption and notifications
  • An Accessibility service, which the user has to switch on in system settings
  • The strings "READ_SMS", "READ_CONTACTS" and so on do appear in the code, but only as a list used to flag other installed apps as risky

What the app actually does

  • The Accessibility service reacts to the system package-installer screens (it has a list of vendor installer packages). When it sees an "install" confirmation, it taps Cancel or Back. It also puts a dark full-screen overlay over the installer for a few seconds.
  • The in-app description says it only acts on installs from Telegram sources. The code doesn't check where the .apk came from, so it cancels any sideload install. The user can turn this off in the app's settings.
  • With all-files access, a file watcher on Downloads and Telegram folders looks for .apk files. If "auto-delete" is on, it deletes them. No code that reads other files as far as I know.
  • When any app is installed or removed, it checks that app's permissions against a risk list, stores the result locally and shows notifications.

Does it send your data to third parties?

  • The app's own code has no HTTP, socket or WebView code, no hard-coded URLs and no telemetry or analytics SDK.
  • Its error logger only writes to the local Android log.
  • It doesn't load code at runtime.
  • The only network paths are Google Play's own libraries. That is probably why INTERNET is declared.

What I'm less certain about

  • Accessibility is very risky. The service is declared with canRetrieveWindowContent and no package filter, so Android lets it see every screen in every app. Only the app's code limits it to installer screens and any next update could remove that limit in theory. Combined with INTERNET, that is a real risk if the developer turns hostile. But nothing in this version does it though.
  • The app is about 10,000 lines of obfuscated code. I read the manifest, the Accessibility service, the background service and the file watcher. For the rest I searched for dangerous API use, both in the decompiled code and in the raw bytecode. So this was more of a targeted review, not a complete audit of every execution path.

What does this mean?

The advertised purpose of safeguarding fits the code. Fraud through APKs sent on Telegram is common and this app is a blunt tool against it. The concern is the pressure: people are forced to install this app and an Accessibility service plus all-files access handed to an app from an individual developer.

ask r/Uzbekistan How would the Uzbek Oligarchy feel about the US establishing a new base in Uzbekistan?

As stated in the title of this post, how would the Uzbek Oligarchy feel about the US establishing a new base in Uzbekistan? Would this better Uzbekistans oligarchic class for the better or be a nightmare? Could Uzbekistan later become a buffer state on behalf of new tensions with the US involving Russia/China? I believe that many of Uzbekistans leaders would welcome this type of action, it would possibly lead to further integration with the West and NATO.

With Russias ongoing war with Ukraine coming up on five years, the oligarchic classes currently established in all ex-Soviet states following the collapse of the Soviet Union, could very well need a helping hand in their neighborhood.

Also, again, I understand many Uzbeks are uncomfortable with difficult and controversial questions - this is a simple conversation. Please keep it simple, and straight forward. Stay out of your feelings, this is a discussion.

Also, in Uzbekistan the working people, the poor, the uneducated have no real say in anything anyways, so don't get offended, your leadership has zero thought or care about what you or me as a matter of fact have to say. Please keep that in mind, it's the hard truth. This could be said for all of Central Asia, easily.

ask r/Uzbekistan Couple stay in hotels

We would like to travel to Uzbekistan as a couple, but we are not married. It is true that hotels do not allow you to stay in the same room if you cannot provide proof of marriage? Are they allowed to ask for this type of documents? Are these rules applied to the hotels of Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent?

education | 🏫 ta'lim International Medical Olympiad being held at Central Asian University Tashkent

Hi everyone!

I’m participating in the CAU International Medical Olympiad. Could previous participants or CAU people share what I should focus on for the general knowledge/rapid-fire round and clinical case scenarios? We don’t have a curriculum yet so we’re kind of confused about it, especially the general knowledge part as that seems really random.

Any high-yield topics, sample questions, or recommended resources would be appreciated.

Thank you!

About the Trip:

Taking a 5-day solo trip centered around ancient Silk Road architecture, street photography, and experiencing the Navruz New Year festival (March 21) in Samarkand. Traveling via the Afrosiyob high-speed train between cities.

Pace & Style:

Relaxed, self-paced exploration. Interested in heritage architecture, walking old quarters, tea houses/cafes, and local street food. Non-drinker.

Looking for:

Fellow solo travelers or small groups around those dates to connect with for exploring monuments, photo exchanges, splitting Yandex cabs, or sharing meals. We would manage our own bookings and accommodations independently.

discussion | muhokama Uzbeks in general

I guess knowing more than one language doesn't mean a person has a wide world view. Reddit is full of extremists in all political, economical, cultural, and religious discussions. Why can't we find just the middle ground? Some of you hate religion, and religious people, while others hate non-religious people. Let them live however you want. I hate nationalists who support the eradication of other forms of cultures. Uzbekistan is a secular nation. Everyone has a right to practice any or no religion. Everyone has a right to speak any language but must know the state language. Everyone has a right to wear or not to wear religious clothes. Why do Uzbeks, no matter what their beliefs are, tend to go extreme in any ideology? I guess we really can't take constructive criticism well and start insulting.

ask r/Uzbekistan Title: Which Medical University Is Easiest to Pass and Graduate From?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Medical students and graduates: Which university worldwide has tuition under $3,500/year, high pass rates, and easy-to-manage exams? I'm especially interested in universities where attendance, assignments, and coursework contribute enough marks to pass, with minimal risk of repeating a year. Are there any where regular attendance can exempt students from final exams? Please share real experiences or official evidence!

Kuz keldi deguncha hamma barg yoqishni boshliydi. Yoshu qarida yotal bor. Havo shundogam juda iflos, chang. Yana yetmagandek har kun yoqishadi. Osha yoqvotganlar chetga chiqishsa yoki tog'ga borishsa, mazza qildik havosi toza ekan deyishadi. Odam ozini ozi zaharlashi uchun qanchalik ahmoq bolishi kerak? Nafas olib bolmayapti ortiq lekin hamma zombiga oxshiydi, bu bilan xech kimni ishi yoq
