They did the reverse for Dora's parents. They looked perfect before, now they look like a white couple from the suburbs with dark skin.

What’s wrong with latino people with straight hair? Our ancestors had straight hair, you know?

Latinos can also be light skinned, that wouldn't justify making them white latinos

Technically nothing, but curly hair is mostly represented as messy or ugly, more curly hair characters opens up for more representation, and ofc us latinos have it a lot

Also the first design for Dora's mom hair is straight

Ugly? Where? Who says that? Not trying to own you, but honestly never in my life I’ve ever heard that in the wild. Also Latinos, at least in Mexico, have it just as much as straight hair. Is that a lot?

I'm talking about media, it's implied in multiple series and movies, first thing that comes to mind is those "makeover" movies where the girl has curly hair when ugly, then straight when pretty

I'm also from México, just looking at my family, at least half of us have wavy/curly hair, same with friends, classmates, random people on the street; I'm not saying is the majority or not, I don't have that exact data, I'm saying it exists and it exists a lot, but media is mostly foreign, so underepresentation will naturally exist

(Also, as a wavy hair girl myself, I do have experience it irl, simply my parents telling me I didn't comb my hair when I did, that's just the way wavy hair behaves. I've met a lot of friends who either straighten it up all together, or feel like they need a 999-step curly hair routine to look "good" because that's the standard we live in, because the people will call the foreign standard the pretty one in some cases.)
