We invite everyone to help other users in our Community Support Threads and on our Discord server.
A well-structured and good-looking comment with all necessary information goes a long way in getting someone to help you and makes your question a lot easier to understand.
People find questions & solutions in these threads by searching for the same issue.
If you find an answer or solution to your question or issue please edit your comment to include the answer or solution.
Some questions will not be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really expect an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.
Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has its own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.
...such as payment & purchasing issues or password & login issues. We can only give advice on how to get in contact with Steam Support.
No one, including Steam Support, can assist with item/trade scams.
/r/Steam is not affiliated with Valve in any way whatsoever.

Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!
This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain advice, questions, suggestions & generic discussion on what to play or buy in terms of Games & Hardware.
Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck or Steam Machine but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Wondering what GPU you should upgrade to or unsure about the specs of a computer? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you.
Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".
There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.
Feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware. Generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs is allowed as well. This is not meant to be a restrictive thread within the designated topics that this thread is for, however it is not a support thread nor is it the place to promote any blogs or curator pages or anything else, subreddit rules still apply.

I'm the one who posted searching for the owner of a Steam Deck my mother-in-law found on a train eight months ago but didn't give it to me until two weeks ago... and I found the owner! It's u/Fine-Log5358! Huge thanks to u/f0rged who led me to finding this post, and even huger thanks to u/SteamHWFeedback who helped connect me with the owner who didn't originally see my messages. And thanks really to everyone who saw my post, upvoted it, commented, shared, etc., because ultimately it led to the right people seeing it.
It took a little bit of effort but it feels amazingly good to have helped get this baby home. According to the tracking info, it should arrive by tomorrow night! I hope u/Fine-Log5358 lets us know when it does!
And to everyone reading.. if you get the opportunity to do a good deed for someone, please do. If everyone does the selfish thing every time, then the world just sucks. Everyone has the ability to be better than that. And it feels really good to do it.
EDIT: I have to take a minute to shout out /u/chriszorn who kindly gifted me a game on steam (that I was really wanting!) just from having seen this post! What comes around goes around and there's some kindness coming your way in the near future too Chris, I'm sure!!! Thank you!

Its estimated around 8hrs
I would never want it to get cancelled when it’s in the final stages of downloading.
Thanks to everybody for great suggestions.

no mods this isnt about me promoting piracy, im talking about an entirely different subject dont be annoying now.
the thing is buying the first game which i've pirated and getting to see it in my account is.. magical, and isnt talked about at all, just beautiful.
Is there not an option for "Yes, AI done did all the things."

These are two games that I played back in 2024 or 2025, and turned out to be malware. Steam has actually been pretty transparent and thorough with the details ever since the first detection.

If I could block games this quickly, I feel like the whole experience would be a lot less frustrating.
Right now, you have to open a game's store page just to mark it as "Ignored."
Do you think Steam should add this?

Via the Steam Community:
Rumor has it:
Eight TLS certificates belonging to eMudhra, an Indian-based intermediate certificate authority, were discovered to be backed by exceptionally weak private keys earlier this week, with one of them containing a value as weak as, I kid you not, "4", hence the update to the revocation list as part of this update

This Wardogs review that Steam served up to me lol!
Considering that we already have an option to report NSFW games without the correct labels/warning, I am surprised that we don't have the option to do the same with AI Content.

Next fest used to be super interesting, and be chock full of little fun curated experiences thought up by brilliant people using their talents, art, and skills to offer demos up to the public, it was always super dope, and something super interesting to look forward to!
now I click on next fest and more than HALF if not more of the results are AI slop thumbnails with awful excuses for "games" underneath.
All I'm looking for is some sort of toggle to let users hide this sort of content. Games are an art, not a generative AI slopping grounds.

This year's Next Fest might be the biggest disappointment yet. It feels like 90% of the games are either awful looking AI-generated slop or games made by actual people but slapped with AI thumbnails. Last year's festival wasn't particularly interesting either, but at least there was still something worth checking out. This year, though, it genuinely feels like there are barely any decent games to look at.
Steam seriously needs to start moderating this flood of garbage, or at the very least raise the fee for publishing a game from $100 to $200. Sure, that would hurt legitimate developers too, but it would also help filter out a significant amount of the trash flooding Steam. Every year, more games get released than the year before, yet the number of good games seems to stay exactly the same. I'd rather play some shitty Unity game slapped together by some Turkish dev in five minutes using free assets than touch a single one of these slop games

Hey everyone! Hope your all doing well,
So I've seen the problems and the complaints about AI usage in a lot of the games participating in next fest so I wanted to highlight the upcoming Games Without AI event.
The aim of the event is to celebrate indie games that are original, hand crafted and get a look at how these games are made.
Link to website:
https://devlandmarketing.com/games-without-ai-showcase
There is also a discord mentioned on the website where voting is still going on and a lot of devs posting updates about their development process.
I'm not involved in this event planning etc, I've applied my own game for it I just think it's worth checking out if your a fan of indie games that are human made.
Thanks for your time!
