Literally the most famous cuckold on the planet.

Loved his older fun summer blockbuster films, but his legacy is now going to be this, he is the rich attractive famous cuck.

Yeah and then he slapped Chris rock, I can't even watch his old movies that I liked, I loved fresh prince and tons of his movies but it's weird that I struggle to enjoy any of it now

I guess now we know why the Fresh Prince of Bel Air's father didn't love him. /s

Recently watched I robot and seeing him in his prime was a good experience. It’s just hard to look past all the shit that’s happened

Yeah I watched independence day and made it through but still bugs me, maybe we should work on ourselves and be more like him, forgive and forget 😆

It's kinda weird to rewatch Hitch and think that Will Smith is playing a dating consultant.

I said it's something I should work on, I was giving my opinion on will Smith and how i feel now, I dont wanna feel this way, i loved "men in black" and now i dont like it as much, hard to explain how our brains work, we're all different

Good acting is supposed to immerse one in the character and not the actor portraying them. If you’re struggling to enjoy his movies now, you probably never really liked him as an actor in the first place.

This is sometimes true, but not always. For example, I used to absolutely love Ryan Adams music. His songwriting will always be iconic, but after the sexual abuse allegations came out, and the way he responded to them, I feel different when I try to listen to those same songs, and end up turning them off. I WANT to like them, but all that makes it hard. I can easily see how someone could feel the same way about Will Smith and his movies. It doesn’t change the level of actor he was or the quality of the film itself, it just feels different when he’s the protagonist and you WANT to root for him, but just can’t.

I feel like you understand me, I think Will Smith is a good actor and does a good job, it's just hard to look at him the same after everything and kinda ruins movies I once loved

It’s hard to root for the protagonist in a film if you know the person playing them isn’t a good person. On the flip side, it’s easy to shelve some of the emotions we feel about actual monsters when someone we like play them in a movie or television. An example of this is Evan Peters playing Jeffrey Dahmer. Dahmer was pure evil, but I ended up feeling a little empathy for him while watching that movie, probably because I like Evan Peters as an actor. It doesn’t mean I have actual empathy for Dahmer any more than it means I think Will Smith is a bad actor.

Music IS self expression, though. Artist sell you the concept of who they actually are whereas actors sell you the the concept of the character they portray.

For instance, no one looks at Leonardo Dicaprio in a movie and sees a man who dates women young enough to be his daughter despite him being that. That’s because he’s a good actor.

Except the “no one” just isn’t true. There are people who find it difficult to relate to a DiCaprio character because of all that. Is the character still believable, knowing what you know about the actor? That probably depends on the character. DiCaprio in The Revenant probably escapes the icky feeling some may have about the actor. Now the characters of Jack Dawson, Romeo, and Jay Gatsby probably don’t escape that icky feeling for everyone.

I mean take another form of acting, in professional wrestling. Can someone who respected Chris Benoit as a wrestler 25 years ago watch those matches now without feeling a certain way? Maybe for some, but many would not feel the same way about him whether he wrestled as Chris Benoit or under another name, playing that character.

I always loved him, but after all that stuff with him and his family and how weird his new videos were, I just can't look at the old stuff the same, just how i am, everybody is different

Really stupid opinion

Yeah, like he didn't do anything worth getting canceled over, but for decades he had successfully maintained the reputation as the cool, fun guy in the room. But I don't think I could ever picture him that way again. Maybe he can do more sad dramas now, I don't know.
