This is why I expect this political era to go on for a while. This sort of amoral obsequiousness towards authoritarians has been prevalent on the right for a while now and will outlast Trump. People aren't mad about this, or ICE raids, or blatant corruption, or an illegal war ... they're mad fuel is expensive.

There is a fundamental rot of civic morals in the American citizenry and I'm not sure what it will take to reverse that.

Well, if you look at what the cultists are saying now, it turns out fuel prices, inflation, and cost of living were never the issue. It was about going to war with Iran, and it's all worth it.

Once the republicans lose, THEN it will be about all the cost of living stuff again.

Remember, trump can say any dumb shit and his worshippers will clap. He loves the poorly educated, and smart people don't like him. He's literally spelling out how much he despises his voters, and it hasn't cost him a vote.

Every Trump defender I know is totally on board with everything he’s done. They justify it all. But the weirdest phenomenon with maga is how they paint him simultaneously a strongman who gets things done, and a weak, fragile moron who is always defeated by woke Biden.
