Yeah that's great. Meanwhile I'm paying £2 for a litre of diesel.

I believe it spelled liter? No need to thank me!

When spelled litre, it’s pronounced lee-tree

2

u/Shnibblefritz Sep 21 '26

It’s not Lee-tire?

Close. It's "lee-tray"

You sure? I think it’s lychee

The word is spelled both ways. Litre is common in Europe. You're right. There is no need to thank you.

Dude why are you talking like that? Do you not touch grass?

u/Atlantidas Sep 21 '26

Should’ve corrected my more obvious spelling error but thank you anyways!

Europe?
Liter is German.

Try to get out of liter US and visit litre Europe countries as an international learning experience eh Alaishana? Germany isn't the only country there you know.

I’m presuming you’re American and have never been privy to a British Encyclopedia. The person who wrote that must be living in Europe or Britain in particular because they spelled “litre” correctly.
sometimes we have to expand our worldview

He was joking. I know its hard to tell these days lol

I'm English and I got it - the challenge was that you're American and we really don't expect effective sarcasm - thanks for adding the /s.

To my point now - As a native speaker of this English language, I'm ready to start a movement - to get Americans and the USA as a whole to adopt "American" as the name for the language they speak.

burglarized?! I don't want a keyboard or language choice limited to 'English (American)'.

Linked by association (even just language) is now enough to make me feel uncomfortabley close to you and your madness

Not american, also not the original guy you responded to, gotta check the username, happens more often then you think lol. Its usually hard to tell sarcasm without the "/s", especially in this political climate, so I thought id help you out a bit, and maybe anyone else. I also agree, they should adopt American as the launguage lol

Yeah I do that too often on reddit!

Here's to your good health and a non-dairy diet

Please notice the (/s) at the end of that person’s message. He/she was being sarcastic.

I know it’s hard to tell sometimes.

We spell it as litre in both English and French Canada as well.
