Idiocracy WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING HOW TO GUIDE

edit: holy fuck my inbox is raw

I'll take President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho all day, though... at least he tried to have people with some knowledge to aid

160

u/DentellaNooir Sep 21 '26

Camacho actually listened to experts when things went bad

99

u/True_Protection6842 Sep 21 '26

He also wanted the best for the people.

55

u/bpows Sep 21 '26

And he fixed the ecominy

3

u/ZebraIntelligent8312 Sep 21 '26

We are so close.

42

u/LongPutBull Sep 21 '26

This is a silent highlight of the movie. That there are those who care, but are aimless willing to drop their ego to do better.

10

u/Wheatabix11 Sep 21 '26

this is the difference, trump is the first president in our history who hates Americans

8

u/True_Protection6842 Sep 21 '26

Even the worst presidents never had an open contempt. Bush Jr seemed to really love America. Just loved money more.

<Said in Morgan Freeman’s dulcet tones.>

You are not. This drives me nuts too. I swear one day the internet will be nothing but bots posting this spicy-hot take at one another all day every day.

Also, didn't need a new diaper when things went bad.

92

u/fgbfjb Sep 21 '26

yes, his ego wasn't so big that he couldn't listen to someone smarter than him. trump only surrounds himself with kiss-asses.

13

u/LES_on_my_mind Sep 21 '26

And fellow thieves.

6

u/HiFromMajor Sep 21 '26

Why do I read this in the narrator from idiocracy voice?

1

u/Alaishana Sep 21 '26

bc those kiss-arses completely depend on him to keep their position. Without him, they are mud.
So they support him, come hell or high water.

28

u/Spirited-Bet-5470 Sep 21 '26

Bruh even idiocracy was smarter than these clowns

20

u/-Akos- Sep 21 '26

At least they were dumb, not malicious. This crew, however..

And at least they didn't hate everyone, they were just stupid

5

u/MouseMouseM Sep 21 '26

Dude, I live in Wisconsin, there is a MAGA candidate in one of the suburbs and their name is Camacho. I almost choked when I passed the first yard sign.

5

u/eejit1991 Sep 21 '26

Idiocracy is set 500 years in the future. You've a long way to go until you get to Kamacho

1

u/RiteousRhino21 29d ago

Except we're trying to speed run the plot rn

3

u/bpows Sep 21 '26

"That's what you said last year dipshit! South Carolina, that's what's up!!!"

3

u/XxRocky88xX Sep 22 '26

He also actually actively wanted to help his constituents, he was just too stupid to do so, and so he deferred to people smarter than him.

Our president wants to make most people suffer and treats being smarter than him as treason

1

u/TehGoad Sep 21 '26

here here

1

u/Koopslovestogame Sep 22 '26

He found the smartest person in the world and listened to them, atleast for a little while.

116

u/Confident-Stand5453 Sep 21 '26

This is not like Idiocracy. In the movie they at least tried to do their best but failed, and the president asked the smartest people in the world for advice which he then followed.

Idiocracy would have been preferable to this shit.

28

u/True_Protection6842 Sep 21 '26

seriously...it's insane that Idiocracy was a BETTER future than what we're approaching. At least Starbucks gave handjobs!

12

u/hellyeahaeylleh Sep 21 '26

Considering we got crocs instead, yes.

1

u/titsngiggles69 29d ago

For those who dont know, Mike judge waa looking for the stupidest looking footwear for the prisoners and found a small unknown company: crocs

10

u/red286 Sep 21 '26

Idiocracy starts in 2005, and then they wind up waking up 500 years later.

So between 2005 and 2505, intelligence dwindles and society collapses in on itself, until Joe Bauer/Not Sure saves the day.

But there's 500 years of collapse in there, and we're on year 21 of it.

Honestly, I expected the decline to be a bit more gradual, but I guess the movie doesn't make clear how long it took for civilization to reach that point.

2

u/Xylus1985 29d ago

Society didn’t collapse in Idiocracy though. There’s still a functioning government, court system and even entertainment industry. Society is hanging on strong.

6

u/Eckish Sep 21 '26

Idiocracy takes place long after the world was fucked. So we need to go full dystopian before we can have a President Camacho.

2

u/CosmicNixx Sep 21 '26

Exactly. This administration is literally trying to fail

2

u/skraptastic Sep 21 '26

This is exactly like Idocracy, people just don't realize we're still in the collapse, it will be a long while before we elect our Camacho.

5

u/Confident-Stand5453 Sep 21 '26

Its not, because the actual president in real life doesnt have the same good intentions that President Camacho had.

The orange pedo only cares about enriching himself and slapping his name on everything he can.

3

u/Sennten Sep 21 '26

Most of the presidents before Camacho didnt either, and even Camacho tried to kill the guy halfway through the attempt and gave up on making things better to please the public instead

18

u/HereWeGoYetAgain-247 Sep 21 '26

Idiocracy was through neglect. We are being sabotaged. Ours is worse.

7

u/Pernapple Sep 21 '26

You say that, but in a sense it is. Those with power are financially incentivized to reduce the education of the working class as make it harder for them to organize and bargain for better conditions and pay.

It also means their children are more likely to have a better education through the private sector meaning there is less competition for them to retain their wealth over generations. Keep the masses dump and malleable and entertained with bread and circuses is how they continually strip away your right our ancestors fought so hard to get.

13

u/LarkinToWinnipeg Sep 21 '26

First time I saw that movie like 20 years ago the opening scene scared me. I could see no flaw in the logic and knew right away it's where we were headed.

4

u/Ecstatic_Bunny Sep 21 '26

Same. As a woman in her early 20s already not wanting kids, it kind of hit home. Literally watching Becky at McDonald's with 3 different baby daddies by the time she was 22. The only thing it got wrong was that it took 500 years and not 25.

5

u/Ressy02 Sep 21 '26

It wasn’t, it’s prophecy foretold

5

u/Edgard_Breeze Sep 21 '26

Neither was 1984 - the two have collided for the perfect storm…

3

u/Ecstatic_Bunny Sep 21 '26

It also took 500 years in Idiocracy, so they are waaaaay ahead of schedule.

2

u/SheriffBartholomew Sep 21 '26

You're right, but oh boy, you've opened a can of worms. Here comes the exact same discussions that happen every time this comparison is made.

2

u/Jak1977 29d ago

I mean... I'd suggest that people need to read more... but 1984 was already treated like a manual!

1

u/Previous_Finance_414 Sep 21 '26

Imagine some GOP hack watching that when it came out thinking 🤔 “Yeah man, I think we can pull that off…. (Cough, hands blunt) ‘ere”.

1

u/hartstyler Sep 21 '26

It is a how to for russia and china. A how to make america irrelevant

1

u/Sladewilson75 Sep 21 '26

Lot less Racism in that, Sexism yes absolutely but even that wasn’t as bad.

1

u/All_Gun_High Sep 21 '26

It's a howtobasic guide

1

u/NaryusLustyMaid Sep 22 '26

Not even 1%. Try 0.01%

1

u/Any-Potential9238 29d ago

Agreed! Especially people that haven’t been born yet, don’t vote for people celebrating the murder of people they disagree with and advocating for the murder of millions of unborn humans. Double standard toting idiot

1

u/RiddleInkedDILF 29d ago

Voting? You still believe in voting?! 😂

1

u/250andlean Sep 21 '26

Fully agree with your call for voting but can we PLEASE get some candidates that would be decent? Trump is an absolute disaster but goddamn I couldn't get on board with Kamala. She easily got beat by Biden the first time around. Why did the DNC think we'd like her being forced on us?

1

u/TehGoad Sep 21 '26

there's a lot of false equivalency, strawman arguments, and bullshit: That sort of are just created to divide us by antisocial media.

The DNC isNT so far from what American people need and want.. but we need to vote in people that we like we cannot keep voting for these half assed christian, hate mongering fear mongering dip, shit right wing extremists. but if the DNC is just giving us mealymouthed milktoast, liars, and shills..... we need more motherfuckers with spines.

GOP is also light years away from what we ACTUALLY NEED.

They're just drumming up more hate and creating more culture warriors. They want more Ashley Babbitts worried about vape lord brittany Griner and who's peeing in what bathroom.

that's why diesel is $10 a gallon. Culture warrior coded creatures voted in and prioritized over healthcare and affordability.

maybe we can now stand united on...

affordability
Release the Epstein files
Justice for the victims
Get the fuck out of Iran
And get the goddamn gas prices down

Personally, I think Terry would be a great step in the right direction. 😂 Can we all get behind Terry Crews for president?! 🇺🇸
