A few weeks ago I went on a trip and dropped Henry off at his normal boarding place of two years. I went to pick him up and they were closed? Dogs were outside and it was hot, I could see them panting over the gate and trying to find shade. I actually stood outside banging on the door for 15 minutes and someone finally came out to let the dogs in. It was August and probably 90ish degrees. I was sweating just standing there. I go “Hey, I’m here to pick up my kid.” I shit you not, the employee goes “You can’t have him yet because we are closed.” I say “Well I’m not leaving here without him so go get him or I’ll call the police.” Employee sighs, goes inside, another employee opens the door, I sign the paperwork, pay, get my kid and leave. At this point I am in disbelief. Like, give me my kid? I am physically here. The entire time the employee checking me out is like “We are closed. We are closed.” She keeps repeating the statement but I don’t reply. It doesn’t say they are closed anywhere on their website or Google, they just weren’t answering the phone. No notification that they were closed for lunch, nothing. I checked before I drove the 45 minutes to go get him. When I picked him up, I noticed his blanket was folded the same way I folded it. They never gave it to him. It helps him with his separation anxiety.
Prior to this I had scheduled him to board at this place again but something tells me to call first to verify. The employee on the phone is being shifty and the boarding was scheduled 3 months in advance. She won’t deny if the space is available for him or not. She’s annoyed and I’m annoyed. I find myself explaining to her how what she is saying doesn’t make sense such as “Drop him off and we will see if we have space.” Um no.
Anyways I get off the phone and sit with the conversation for a bit. I decided to cancel my trip, flight, hotel, everything. I don’t want my guy going anywhere without me.
