discussion I spent 8 months building a Reaper-Native, FL-style Piano Roll to completely replace Reaper's MIDI Editor... and it's free.

I see their site come up on search but it times out. I have tried on multiple networks
also, any alternative sources for reaper reaplugs?
I've never used Reaper and am curious about it.

I'm not sure how this will go as the initial reaction I got was not the best; I probably didn't clarify exactly what I was thinking, but ehh..
I patched libSwell.so to add a collapsible sidebar to REAPER's file
dialogs on Linux, similar to what you'd expect from a native file manager.
This was developed with the help of Claude (AI), so worth mentioning in
the spirit of transparency.
Shows up in any REAPER file dialog — open/save project, render output
path, browse buttons, etc. Does not affect the Insert Media dialog.
(All are can be removed/modified)
The sidebar has three sections:
- Places — Home, Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos,
Trash
- Bookmarks — synced with ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks
- Devices — mounted block devices
Right-clicking a sidebar item gives you: Add to Bookmarks / Remove from
Bookmarks / Copy path / Open in file manager. Right-clicking a section
header lets you bookmark whatever folder you're currently browsing.
Also adds file operations directly in the dialog via right-clicking the
file list: new folder, rename, move to trash, copy/cut/paste, open in file
manager, copy path. Keyboard shortcuts work too — Ctrl+C/X/V, Del, F2,
Ctrl+Shift+N.
Install: grab the pre-built libSwell.so from the releases folder, back up
your original, and drop it into your REAPER directory. No recompile
needed. Build-from-source instructions are in the README if you prefer
that.

The stock SWELL dialog hasn't changed in a long time so this should stay
compatible across REAPER updates. If anything breaks after an update, open
an issue on the repo.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve recording a deftones cover and at the time of automating the volume and the eq sounds a weird crunch/clip. Any help?

Hi everyone, I've been having issues with my audio interface (Pyle PMUX6) causing a squeal and noise issue after 5-20 minutes of having it plugged in/recording in reaper. My original suspicion was grounding issues, but I realized later that other apps like audacity work perfectly fine with it plugged in, and it only happens on my Mac (my windows PC is unaffected). Does anyone know what this is? (For more clarity, it happens regardless of whether any mics are plugged in, and is around 40-42db on the meter.)
By the way I am aware this is a pretty cheap interface, but it gets the job done for what I'm using it for.

My card's volume pot got really scratchy so I started to control volume via Windows much more. To my surprise, ASIO's volume from Reaper turned out to be independent from Windows volume (how the hell I did not know that after 20 years is a mystery). I can manipulate the master bus in Reaper, which is not ideal for obvious reasons, or I can use a volume on my card's mixer (software panel) but that thing affects both Reaper and Windows sound and it's annoying to use (no keystrokes like with Windows volume). So... how can I control the volume after Reaper's master? Some kind of routing software with a fader maybe? I have a bunch of outputs so I could do it with a physical mixer, but I really don't want to add more physical gear to avoid one scratchy pot. My card is Roland Octa-Capture and the routing in the panel is very basic (or I just don't understand it enough to make it work).

Hey all, I have a Valeton GP150, a nice little stompbox with an expression pedal. It does a lot of cool stuff, including acting as an audio interface with my Macbook running Reaper. I have a bass vi tuned in fifths plugged into it.
Should I generally run clean signal from the Valeton into Reaper and apply effects there, or run pedals/amp/cab/IR through the Valeton? I have the Tone3000 plugin installed in Reaper, which is awesome, except that most effects chains there just end up sounding . . . bad somehow.
Probably lack of experience, but I tend to get significantly better sound from the Valeton, but then that removes flexibility.
Thanks!
