Vivek's campaign is done and I'm glad

What Vivek did to Amy, using her abusive mother in a campaign ad, is horrible straight up. But it is also a good thing that he did this because it proved he would've been a horrible governor. Absolutely no morals in doing whatever it takes to win. This is who he is. He would've destroyed Ohio if he won, ruining the economy and destroying the land to fill it with data centers, and now Ohio finally has a chance to grow again.

I also genuinely can not believe he doubled down on the campaign ad. He could've salvaged his campaign if he just apologized and denounced it. Instead, he clarified that he was responsible for the ad and wouldn't apologize. Republicans genuinely will never apologize for their actions.

That being said, do not get complicit. Go vote for Amy regardless to ensure her victory

This is another of those times when people you know are going to show you who they really are, with their votes.

Just sayin', and beware.

True, and we really cannot afford to do that.

I wish the USA required voting. I think Australia does.

I'm weird, but I enjoy going to vote in person, usually early in the morning, on Election Day. I'll be at my polling place at probably 6:30 a.m. on November 3rd.

As a bonus, I used to be a poll worker at that location, for 7 elections in a row, going back to 2021. The team who works that precinct tends to be the same folks every time, a mix of Dems and Repubs and independents, and we're all friends of a sort. It'll be good to see them, even though there won't be time to chat.

Those folks will work 12 to 15 hours on Election Day. I once walked more than 19,000 steps during that time, working an election.

In my county, a regular poll worker receives $135 for the day, but they have to stay the whole day. Bring lunch & dinner or have it delivered, but no leaving the premises.

$135 ÷ 15 = $9/hour

Please be nice to poll workers.

No matter how a person chooses to vote, it's time well spent. I don't want to stand for hours in line either, but I want my votes (for the various contests) counted. I plan to take a book with me, although I won't get to read it because where I live, people TALK.

LOL

VOTE, folks!

You're not weird, I work the polls and this is what I love most about our election system! On voting day, you don't have to go to some faceless administrative building to vote, you're going to a church or school or library right in your neighborhood and one of your neighbors is going to hand you your ballot. 14 hour days are totally worth getting to be a part of that.

It's true, the time spent is very much worth it. At some point I realized I'm in my late 60s and it was taking me a full week to recover from an election day, so I bowed out.

I encourage everyone to work the polls at least once. The training is paid as long as you fulfill your election day obligation. There's extra money paid if you go to the polling place where you'll be working the night before to set up the equipment so it's ready to go at 6:30 a.m.

It's not a lot of money ... in Stark County (unless something has changed recently), it's $135 for election day, $10 for training, $10 for set up ... but about a month after the election is over, you get a check for $155 and that's a nice extra amount to have around the holidays.

Cheers, and happy voting!
