Hey everyone I’m currently looking into doing my online RN to BSN program with Radford University. Has anyone done Radford before? Any tips or tricks or advice or even warnings? Thank you in advance. I’m really just curious how easy it is to get a 3.0 GPA with this program as that’s the requirements for my future MSN program. Thank you in advance!

I am enrolled in a nursing program, it’s going really great. I start my clinical semester in January & I had been applying for nurse extern positions because I have 0 experience, and I have social anxiety sometimes so I was really hoping to kind of get the nerves out before my clinicals. (I’m 31 so already feeling behind and silly applying for jobs that 19/20 year olds are applying for)
Well I got hired on the spot at my first interview with HCA, everyone in the dept was awesome, the manager was so awesome. I know people don’t always have great experiences at HCA, but truly this seemed like a really really great opportunity. I was so excited.
Well this was a month ago. I’ve been going back and forth with on boarding for a month about my back ground check. What was supposed to be my new manager has even been texting back and forth with me getting updates and what not, eager for me to start.
I have tickets from animal control from 2020-2024 from puppies being escape artists. Each and every time that a dog got picked up, they wrote me a ticket per animal… we have 3 dogs, this happened 3 times until we figured out a solution with our fence. You do the math 😭 each time I was told oh you don’t have to go to court just pay the ticket, I’m like ok cool, I have three kids, I’m busy, so i do that.
Come to find out each and every one was a MISDEMEANOR.
I did all of the paperwork explaining the situation the way I am supposed to and after another two weeks of waiting, I received an email stating that due to the background check they are rescending my employment offer. I’m devastated.
HOW is something like this making me unemployable ?!? What the heck is this going to mean for my future. My school approved me for the program but what about each clinical site? what about licensing?! I’m not a criminal, I’ve never gotten in trouble ever and now my dogs getting out is ruining all of my plans. I’ve been working so hard and now I feel like I’m wasting my time and I just want to give up.
Does anyone have any insight? Should I contact a lawyer & try to get this resolved with the county? Try again somewhere else? 😭

I’m a first year nursing student and this is really stupid but I had severe menstrual cramps at noon and I took pain killers to hopefully get me through a midterm that was in the evening. I woke up and realized I missed it so I hurried to my pc and checked the portal and the midterm was still there. So like an idiot i answered it (it was a proctored online exam(had to use a video camera)) without contacting the professor prior. The syllabus said that exams should be done in person as scheduled and had to contact the professor prior first but I PANICKED. its worth 20%. I emailed the professor explaining the situation but i dont know if she’ll accept it. Highkey still panicking rn what should i do?? pray?

Hi everyone! I just got accepted into Wake Tech’s ADN Nursing program for the spring semester, and I’m honestly super nervous.
I don’t really have anyone in my life who’s going into nursing (or done nursing), so I’d love some advice from people who’ve been through it.
What I’m trying to figure out:
- What should I buy beforehand? (any textbooks, supplies, scrubs, equipment, etc. that you actually use)
- What should I do before the program starts?
- What do I need before/during day one?(things people forget to prepare)
- Is there anything I should study ahead of time? like anatomy/medical terminology, dosage calculations, CPR, math, etc.
If you have any tips on what helped you most, what you wish you knew earlier, or anything you’d tell a nervous first-semester student, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I have all the mandatory vaccines for practical, but they recommend the flu shot. It’s not mandatory, but if there is a flu outbreak during my practical and I don’t have the flu shot then I will be sent home until outbreak is over. I have gotten it in the past, but I’ve always experienced very extremely severe side effects so I stopped getting it. I don’t want to get it but I don’t want to risk not being able to get enough hours 😩

Does anyone have any study guides they recommend for ATI?
Our instructor has really put the fear into us about the ATI Proctored Exam. We have to get the green light by the end of next semester, and we were told that many students who scored a Level 1 on the Proctored ATI Exam over the past few years did not pass the NCLEX.
I applied the strategies my instructor and I discussed, but outside of practicing questions, I'm looking for other ways to prepare.
When you have 25 remediation packets, 10 ATI assignments due every two weeks, an exam every two weeks, and clinical assignments every week, it becomes challenging to find additional time to study. Add in working full-time to support your family, and nursing school can be exhausting compared to previous jobs. Sometimes, you feel like a burnt-out candle.
During winter break, I plan to focus on practicing ATI questions. I'm also trying to incorporate a dedicated one-hour block each week for ATI practice questions, but it's been challenging while I'm still trying to catch up on assignments.
Are there any study guides, resources, or strategies that have helped you prepare for the ATI Proctored Exam and ultimately the NCLEX? I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

Seeking advice!
I just started a new clinical placement. It is at a long term care facility and almost all of the residents smoke. They cannot do so inside but the smoking areas are very close to the building and the inside permeates with smoke. I wouldn’t mind this except I am super sensitive to it and have been coughing all night since getting home. My school is super strict about where our placement sites are and does not let anyone switch. Is there anything I can do to protect my lungs or medication I can take to soothe the irritation? I tried allergy medication when I got home but it does not seem to be working.
Thanks in advance!
