In celebration of 20 million copies of MH Rise sold

Recently started playing MH3U as my first "old gen" mainline game and a weird thing I have immediately noticed is that these low tier monsters that I would not pay any attention in modern games feel like they are super cool here in old gen.

I got 3 examples of Arzuros, Barroth and Royal Ludroth. All 3 made me feel nothing special in Rise nor World but in 3U they feel like proper fights. I know RLudroth has the underwater segment which makes it a lot cooler but even on land the fight feels much more interesting. I think the issue is that they have not received enough upgrades to their movesets to match new gen hunters so they just become punching bags. In 3U they feel like such back and forths and something trivial in new gen like breaking Barroths mud armor to get a knockdown feels so rewarding here in 3U.

Would love to hear any veterans who started with old gen / newer players who went back to old gen to see if any of you share a similar opinion to these early game monsters, or if I'm just schizo and alone on this one.

PS: I feel like the recent Oceaniz video of 3rd gen ecology has made me appreciate the designs of these monsters a lot more so it might also play into my enjoyment of these monsters rn

I saw my friend playing Monster Hunter and i really wanted to try it, it looks very fun. I never played any monster hunter game though.

Which one should i start with?

My friend told me both are good but World was easier for him to understand the game in his first time

A quick color sketch in the style of the old world, I started my hunter journey on the wii with Tri so it always will have a special place in my heart. I thought our snake-squirrel boy needed a bit of love, I always liked the design but never vibe with the armor or weapons designs. This was very fun to make so I might give a shot to Anjanath set too before I get busy again with comms, if you want to see something similar for another monster let me know!

Element for me would probably have to be Fire, as I think the effects that happen with weapon attacks are neat, as well as the CB's SAED in Wilds looking so cool! Close second would have to be Ice.

For status it would be Blast. Same as fire, the effects are just awesome to see, and knowing it does a good amount of damage is nice. Poison would be a close second tho.

These little guys have been with me since the very beginning of my M.H.Rise file. One pilfers and sets traps, the other heals and clears status ailments. Together, they are my favorite trouble makers~<3

Ordered it back in January, and just got it in the mail

Well I just wandering for a while and based on the rancor post , i wonder how well it could do , being is natural hábitat the desserts of tatooine , and the two subspecies i know of being the the canyon krayt dragon being a lot smaller and have just 4 legs , the greater krayt dragon wich can spray a very strong acid, this are normally the apex predators of their planet
(Note i just use the legends art works just because i like their desing a little more)
I could imagine is envirmental rivals could be things like diablos or try to predate on other sand duellers

Back when Wilds was still in its title update cycle I was confident that I would rather the devs take their time with the expansion so that its not rushed and feels complete on launch, and I still believe that, but maaann...what do you mean it's been a year and a half since Wilds launched?? I turned 18 a week after the launch and I'll be 20 in the spring when it will (hopefully) come out. Has there ever been a wait this long for an expansion??

Good news is that all this time has given me the opportunity to go back and try Rise. Sunbreak is peak, and I'm learning Primordial Malzeno right now, so I guess I'll find ways to entertain myself during this long drought..

I absolutely love playing it handheld, is it gonna suck grind all the gears, yes, but I'm gonna love it anyway

Hey gang, wanted to see it myself real quick so I did few screenshots close to the base.

PC is on medium settings, high textures without the highest resolution pack, with few settings on high for effects, fog, gi and such, 1440p with DLSS on Balanced, RTX 3080.

Probably not the best way for comparison because now I see that reddit compresses heavily

Lagiacrus and his counter parts are definitely mine since this was the monster that got me interested in the series.

Love his armor, his weapons, and his fight. And even though underwater combat was very clunky and somewhat poor, I still love abyssal. But I am biased towards 3u since it was my first game, so yes some nostalgia is talking.
