Is there another context I'm missing where one would use the word doggo and not have it be in exactly this scenario? I'm confused.

I'm early 30s, I'm always around a lot of people in the 28-39 range. I haven't heard somebody unironically say dog in years. It's always doggo or pupper

I'm guessing talking to someone else about a dog? Like, "I have a doggo at home" rather than, "Who's a good doggo?? Is it you? Yes, it is! You're the best doggo in the world!"

Ah, that makes sense actually. Thanks. Never occurred to me to even use Doggo except when talking to the dog itself. Clearly I lack imagination.
