It's likely compounded sleeping habits that are now starting to hurt after years. Most of these aches are bad habits compounded to the now result that you have chronically tight muscles. For Instance, I used to kind of sleep with my right arm "chicken winged", like bent at the elbow tightly, and then tucked under my body. About 5 years ago my right delt, the tendon or whatever that goes from my delt to my wrist, and my scapula all started hurting really bad. It would hurt through my bicep, wrist and deltoid. So I started consciously not doing that, and it seems to have really eliminated the pain. So check how you relax, how you sleep, the position your body rests. All these things can compound and just cause aches. It's not too late to make corrections.
That's me, plus sitting too much overall at my job. Started at 26 and still bothers me at 38, but it's manageable. I've always been an active person so I imagine it's much worst for folks who don't play sports or do active hobbies.
I've almost eliminated it with PT exercises and a nice office chair. Rock climbing has actually helped the most though.
