Undiagnosed ADHD, fumbling over the first sentence for eight hours, writing the entire paper in a fatigue-induced stupor. All the blocks came down at that level of sleepy. Paper took forever gross, ten minutes net. Half asleep when I turn it in.

AND GOT A BEEEEEE

I would get A’s and A pluses, but I went through the same experience. Throwing in new words that I learned from the dictionary helped. These days, I would be accused of using AI for doing that.

Shift-F7 opens the thesaurus in Microsoft word. I did not need to look that up, it is deeply ingrained in my brain.

Hmm, I actually didn’t know that. I wrote all my essays out on paper initially before typing them, so I had actual physical dictionaries and thesauruses that I would use.

I actually remember getting excited about my dad buying them for me and owning them, and we’re talking like mid-late 2000s here.

And well, the dictionaries helped me a lot when simply reading the books.

I totally get that. I (41) found myself desribing what an encyclopedia was to my son (11) the other night. I was telling him how we had to look up something in the encyclopedia if we had a question. You could also go to the local library and look things up online if you needed more.

I took a Keyboarding class in middle school and we got a home computer sometime in 1996/1997?

When I went off to college in 2003, I had a bulky laptop that we bought before I headed off. I wrote all my papers on that thing.

I’m a younger millennial, born in ‘93. I was already addicted to YouTube in 2007, and spent most of my life chronically online due to my autism and other issues.

But regardless, I learned to appreciate books and physical media as a kid, and I would like to welcome more books and physical media back into my life once I sort my finances out.

Yeah, the library was a fun place to hang out. I’d still go if I wasn’t living in a foreign country.

I remember I had a keyboarding class in high school. (44 here.) It was tough! She was actually a really good teacher! So I learned to type really well, and I carried a bulky laptop around also. I think it was a 4 gig hard drive. Literally, four gigs.

My roommate had a 20 gig computer and I thought she was totally rich LOL
