Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.
Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!
Rules for this thread:
This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.
The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Hello Reddit!
I was appointed by Governor Wes Moore last December to serve in this role, but I’ve worked in the transportation field for more than 30 years. Previously I had the honor to serve at the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Maryland Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining our state’s transportation system – and it’s more than just roads! Our responsibilities also include the Port of Baltimore, the Francis Scott Key Bridge Rebuild Project, BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport and our state’s public transit system, including MTA’s service in Baltimore and the upcoming Purple Line. We also oversee the Motor Vehicle Administration, which helps our residents through vehicle registration and driver licensing. We are Serious About Safety for all users of our system, and we want to ensure transportation in Maryland is sustainable into the future.
I am eager answer your questions about transportation (or where my favorite place to run in Maryland is!).
Proof:

I’ll start answering questions at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, and plan to stick around for about one hour.
AMA!
EDIT (12:10 p.m.): Hi, I'm Katie and look forward to answering your questions!
EDIT: (12:37 p.m.) We are answering questions. There was a little glitch but the mods are working on fixing that. Our answers should appear soon.
EDIT: (1:00 p.m.) Thanks everyone!

Not sure how many people here know this, but Maryland is one of only four states (plus DC) that still use pure contributory negligence. If you're found even slightly at fault for your own injury, you can be barred from recovering anything.
There was a bill this year (HB 466) to change it for pedestrians and cyclists. It got sent to interim study, so nothing changed.
Practical stuff worth knowing:
- You generally don't have to give a recorded statement to the OTHER driver's insurance
- PIP is no-fault and can cover medical bills and lost wages regardless of who caused it (unless you waived it)
- There's an exception called "last clear chance" if the other driver had a fresh opportunity to avoid the crash
Wrote up a longer explainer: https://silmilaw.com/maryland-contributory-negligence/
Anyone here dealt with an insurer using this rule against them?

Hi there, I’m a crafter/artist and looking for suggestions for Holiday markets or events this Nov and Dec in Maryland. Ideally within ~30 min but 1 hour max from Central MD. Preferably lower end vendor fees so that I can do a few, but willing to pay more for the right events.
I’ve done events previously in Frederick, Westminster, West Friendship, and Columbia MD.
It seems like a lot of places decided to not do their annual markets this year that I’ve done previously, so I’m late to the game so to speak. Starting over from scratch is not as easy as I thought and could use some help! I see tons of event flyers on social media, most being for brand new events.
FB groups are full of scammers so I’m looking for personal recs based on events you may have attended as a customer and love, participated in as a vendor, etc. Even as a vendor, ones to avoid (can DM me).
Thanks!

I put in my filled-in ballot for the November 2026 midterm elections last Tuesday October 13 in the mailbox at USPS at Greenspring Station (10807 Falls Road, Brooklandville, MD 21022). Even today (October 21), my ballot seems not to have reached the Election Board office. Please advise on this strange situation (something that has never happened to me before). What may be my best options? Thanks in advance to anyone who would care to respond.

And I really wanna get some thoughts from a native person from Maryland. Looking forward for your answer! P. S. (if i chose the wrong subreddit, I'm sorry. I'm kinda short on time with the task)

I used to love Flying Dog fanatical. Then they left MD and all I came buy of them now is the mass market stuff.
Are there any other local breweries that put out things like the seasonal and the brew house rarities?

As the whole world saw last week at another League of Women Voters forum, Andy Harris has a temper. During his 27 years as a state senator from Baltimore County and a Republican congressman in the 1st District, his blowups have become the stuff of legend.

The original Maryland Constitution forbade the freeing of enslaved people. After rewriting the Constitution, enslaved people could finally celebrate their freedom on November 1, 1864. The following events in Annapolis, Greenbelt, Bethesda, Sandy Spring, Olney, and Wheaton are part history and part celebration of Maryland's emancipation. https://chesapeake-inspired.com/maryland-emancipation-day-events/

When I go shopping, why is everyone's face so serious and sometimes even angry. This is a Maryland thing, but I kind of hate it.
