my niece is very much like this. hugging makes her skin crawl and she's always been that way. i give her fist bumps.

My nephew is the same. We do ‘finger hugs’ as the word for a hug in my language is the same as the one for pressing something. Just giving him the option to chose I have noticed that he then will initiate a hug afterwards more often than not. Drives the grandparents nuts that he gives me that.

And I bet she likes you much more for it. Maybe one day she gives you a voluntary hug and you feel great about it. Instead of feeling rejected if you had forced it on her.
