They do the second time and you get to see why they didn’t the first time.

Yeah, the hand in the way was a really bad design choice. Not sure why they thought it would fly with that obstacle

Probably wants to be an actuary when they grow up. Doesn't want anyone losing an eye in a tragic paper plane accident.

This is like the third vid I’ve seen of this and every time they don’t let the damn plane fly.

Your post would be awesome if you let the plane fly. You didn't, therefore it sucks.

But how does it fly
Edit because apparently people need extra context: I meant how WELL does that plane fly, i can clearly see the fucking turboboosting wheels that shoot it out like a railgun, which clearly does not work as the plane just shoots straight up then falls.

If you look closely theres a guy blocking it with his hand again even the second time around. The turboboosting could probably work if they let it

The two wheel at the front in horizontal, they are spinning in opposite direction (left one - anti clockwise, right one - clockwise) giving the plane speed.

Theres two wheels spinning near the front which pushes the plane very fast, giving the plane speed.

I just went down a rabbit hole on this one.
I remember when tecnics came out. It was very engineering based and kind of an answer to K'NEX which was super popular when I was a wee lad. People were making miniature fairgrounds with Ferris wheels and the like. Technics also felt like legos version of Meccano which was also very popular.
Now it seems like Tecnic is still very much a thing, but they tend to focus on more detailed models of say cars, and other licencee brands. I guess that new Playstation thing used some Tecnics parts.
My initial reaction when I saw the video titled "Lego" was ..... "sir, technically that's Tecnics."
If you're anything of a big kid like me, you may like these videos. https://www.youtube.com/@BrickTechnology

Won’t fly well. It bends the nose as it goes through

Are you sure thats not from the boy placing his hand right in the line of trajectory?

and that plane has more legroom than what most major airlines offer these days.

I'm having dot matrix printer flashbacks. Just praying the paper stays straight through the whole process.

I would hire the person that made that.
I work with people that will make a PLC project drag on for more than a year when someone willing to just build it could do it in under a month, easily. A week if they thought it was interesting.

This is how fancy boxes are made! Used to work in a box factory.
Not the simple boxes you fold and tape, but the more complicated ones like when they have the bottom glued and you pop them open.

are k'nex just referred to as lego now?

u/GhostriderJuliett 1d ago
Probably, but the machine in the video looks to be mostly made from Lego Technic.

I built hundreds of things out of knex as a kid, and you just reminded me of it's existence! This is definitely Lego technic though

Did a Lego kill your parents?

I hate it when your "hobby" has to revolve around one corporate.

u/Color_blinded 1d ago
Just so we're clear, you also hate Pokemon, Warhammer, and Magic the Gathering, right? Also, why the quotes?
-7
u/OwlSings 1d ago
Right. I mean I could watch Pokemon because anime is my hobby. But I certainly won't call the The Pokémon™ Company my hobby and buy their overpriced plastic toys. That's not a hobby, that's brand loyalty.
