The Sounding Below: a free Lovecraftian weird noir short story set in 1932 (N.S. Bird)

St. Alder, 1932. A harbour dredger drags up an old bronze bell with no clapper, and at 3:17 the next morning it rings anyway. Inspector Edwin Price is found drowned in his locked, bone-dry office. Jack Calder of the Special Survey Office, known around City Hall as Odd Jobs, and Evelyn Ward of the records office find old harbour charts showing water where there should be ground. Something sealed beneath the old quay has been disturbed.

It's a complete short story, about 9,400 words in eight chapters, free to read on the page with a PDF if you'd rather read it later. No sign-up needed.

NecroEternal is an Animated Adult Series based in the world of Lovecraftian fiction.

Presenting itself as a mystery-action-horror genre, with elements of dark humor and romance, Necroeternal raises questions on the nature of cosmic existentialism.

In search of answers, protagonists Penelope, Jackson, and Wilbur navigate their often complicated and dangerous world. Encountering eldritch deities, strange locales, and otherworldly scenarios. Lest they’re consumed by their demons, all three must contend with their personal struggles if they’re to accomplish their goals and discover their truth.

Art I finally printed my Lovecraftian Eldritch Pumpkin, and the red LED lighting makes it look alive! 🎃🐙

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share the final result of my latest Halloween project!

I sculpted this Eldritch Pumpkin entirely in ZBrush, taking inspiration from Lovecraftian cosmic horror and the twisted anatomy of Cthulhu.

My goal was to create something that looked like a Halloween pumpkin slowly transforming into an ancient, tentacled creature.

After finishing the digital sculpture, I printed it in resin using my Anycubic Photon P1 Max.

The model features multiple openings throughout its surface, allowing internal LED lighting to shine through the eyes, tentacles and organic details.
I decided to try red lighting, and I absolutely love the result! 🔥

Seeing the physical print illuminated for the first time was incredibly satisfying.

I’m still considering painting it, but the grey resin finish gives it an interesting stone-like appearance.

What would you do? Keep the grey finish or paint it with some disgusting, organic colors?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
