May Ukraine's drones find that oil tanker before it ever leaves port.

What port? Winter is coming and Russia has no warm water ports left.

u/RobMillsyMills 12h ago
They use ice breakers to clear the ice for vessels during the winter. And Murmansk is ice free year round due to the gulf stream.

You might say its a bottleneck that would be devastating if targeted... all winter?

Duh, we let y’all eat shit for years in two World Wars before we showed up. We left the French hang out to dry in Vietnam and swooped in to pick up the pieces, we took the Philippines as a concession from Spain etc. American history has many such examples. It’s not our problem until it’s our problem.
The US has literally ALWAYS done this. Is there an actual example of the US sticking up for a European nation with TROOPS outside of the World Wars? (Actually asking passer-bys)

Bit by bit of that is repeating in Brazil and it's incredibly frustrating. The favorite candidate for President is the son of Jair Bolsonaro, our very own inssurrectionist dick holster. Feels like half the country has gone fully insane and for the other, sane half of us, it's maddening. Believe me, there is no apathy here. For every million people not wanting to go back to the middle ages under a fascist's idiot and corrupt son, there are a million other people that want EXACTLY that. All in the name of "family, traditional values, God, the fear of communism and trans people invading restrooms".

Some of them are victims of propaganda . Pretty much all of them are. Americans really fail to recognize how powerful the propaganda machine is in their country. Your right wing billionaires control nearly ALL the social media and media platforms uses by your people and people around the world. They control what you see, how you see it, and all that. the sooner you realize this the better. I get you wanna blame your countryman. Nothing unites American more than their hatred for Americans. But we live in an age where controlling people is easier than ever for the people at the top.
20
u/-Stackdaddy- 10h ago
We are all victims of propaganda, it gets blasted at everyone 24/7. Not everyone falls for it though. It's almost as if the people who fall for it have preconceived notions already. I don't fall for the whole 'immigrants are evil and coming over to our country to steal and rape' line of propaganda, because I'm not a racist, for example.

There's a super old joke about this:
"I have to admit, I'm always so impressed by Soviet propaganda. You really know how to get people worked up," the CIA agent says.
"Thank you," the KGB says. "We do our best but truly, it's nothing compared to American propaganda. Your people believe everything your state media tells them."
The CIA agent drops his drink in shock and disgust. "Thank you friend, but you must be confused... There's no propaganda in America."

This comment is the entire concept of getting halfway to a conclusion I'm a nutshell.
You started off strong: yes, a huge chunk of Americans are subjected to insane amounts of propaganda. Conservatives run the two largest locals news conglomerates, Nexstar and Sinclair, and the most wide reaching social media platforms (Meta, Twitter, TikTok) are conservative propaganda farms.
Where I would contend you miss is by acting like a failure to realize this is a uniquely American trait. You're about the first non-American I have ever seen even acknowledge that propaganda machine (much less understand how pervasive it is nor how long a lot of it has been in place). Additionally, I take issue with "your" social media when one of the most nefarious operations is owned by a dude from South Africa and one of the largest contributors to this propaganda machine is from Germany.
Further to the point of this not being a uniquely American problem is the fact that white nationalism is growing in most developed nations. Italy is run by a proto-fascist, Germany is giving up ground to fascists, Canada was a hair's breadth away from coming along (and were largely saved from that by external factors), France is all but certain to take a hard right turn next year based on current trajectory, and the UK is moving swiftly right thanks to their own white nationalism. A huge part of that shift has been thanks to the propaganda machine run by the aforementioned South African.
This is a global problem, largely tied to an out of control billionaire class (which is also a global issue) rather than any specific nation, America just happens to have a large footprint because the bulk of the world economy hinges on whatever is going on in the US at any given time.

Lol, what a deal:
The shipment amounts to approximately 13 percent of the initial 300,000 metric tons (about 330,700 US tons) that President Donald Trump said Russia would release immediately under the agreement.
[...]
Ukraine’s presidential sanctions commissioner Vladyslav Vlasiuk said the announced 40,000-metric-ton diesel cargo would cover less than two hours of American diesel consumption.
He estimated that the voyage would take approximately three weeks, during which the US would export around 100 times as much diesel of its own.

Let’s call this what it is: Trump is desperate because the midterms are coming up, and he is not hiding the fact that he is trying to help Russia win the war as soon as he can.
Not that he was ever good at hiding his crimes in the first place, but he’s running out of time and he knows that.
The world doesn’t think America cares, but I can assure you even the painfully stupid ones see how expensive everything has gotten in just a year. There will always be irredeemable slugs who justify anything, but it’s a dwindling group.
This is a totally different Trump from the first term—no quotable moments, no outrageous takes, just pure, relentless, quiet destruction from within. Direct cost-of-living hikes on the lower class under the guise of tariffs, inflating the price of oil through yet another pointless war, etc.
He’s old and weak and he’s about to get neutered.
191
u/loco_canadian 11h ago edited 9h ago
That's the thing though, midterms happen and then what? We're just supposed to believe that from now on things are different?
Trump isn't the problem. It's a larger than acceptable percentage of the population that resulted in Trump. We have no faith that this won't be a repeating cycle, and the world is accepting that fact and moving on without you.
Election cycles aren't going to change the feeling the world has towards America. True change is needed and we're not sure you're all ready to tear it all down and start over, rather than slap a bandaid on the problem and risk it happening every four to eight years.

That's because this election isn't the end, it's the fucking beginning. And Americans really need to get their heads wrapped around that.
We do not win if we take over the house and senate in November. It just means we get to line up at the starting blocks. This is not the end of the race, this just assures that we get a spot in the fight.
We have to immediately begin to dismantle everything he has done to us in the last 10 years. It's going to take twice as long, minimum. We are in for the long haul, it's the only way.
We have to abolish ICE We have to abolish DHS. Immigration enforcement will go back to INS, where it belongs.
We have to dismantle the flock system in America.
We have to reform our Supreme Court.
We have to purge, prosecute, and execute some of the officials responsible for the treason.
We have a dozen impeachments that we have to move through, outside of prosecutions.
We set our country back 50 years, and it is going to take all of us to dig ourselves out.

So they don't give a shit if they fuck over the rest of the world as long as they're personally okay? Man, I wonder if there’s a petro-exporting country friendly to Russia that may have supplied them with the diesel that they filled the tanker with.
Say, a nation in the Middle East that’s currently arming itself to the teeth to kill as many Americans that try to invade it as possible. A nation that will probably take the money they got from selling diesel to Russia and use it to build Shaheds that will vaporize any poor kid forced to try and hold Kharg Island.
real headscratcher, that one is…

Without reading the article or knowing the full details, I read it as the amount of Diesel that Trump's deal with Russia equates to less than 2 hours of diesel use in the country. However, the shipment of said deal has been delayed by 1-2 days.
I think the inclusion of measuring the amount of diesel in terms of time just emphasizes how ridiculous, stupid, and traitorous this deal is. It's not a significant amount for basically turning a big middle finger to this country's allies.

You just know the idiots that spew that retort genuinely think that is the difference between the Democrat and Republican Parties. Democratic = Democrats so it must be bad.

They value their hate for trans people more than their love for democracy

Wait, the whole deal was for 15 hours of diesel? How much time was spent hammering this out...

It’s NOT really about how long it will last - though people have focused on that.
It’s about the Price Difference that TRUMP can sell it for - as it’s Putin’s Payment to Trump, for Trump’s ‘services rendered’ - about crippling Ukraine.
Since Trump works for Putin for Cash…
He calls that ‘Good Business’While others call it TREASON…

Two days, two weeks, you're not getting anything.
You got sold out. Get out and vote.

It’s like when he took all those photos with Kim Jong Un. Just legitimizing bullshit. Like for a few days of diesel you show it’s ok to buy Russian oil. Lose all moral authority (like we had any left). Sanctions? What sanctions?

So is Trump going to reintroduce sanctions on Russia now then or is he not going to bother hiding who his boss is

So the deal was for the most minuscule amount of diesel, literally 2 hours worth for the united states total, and he's holding it over trumps head like a chew toy. Bark bitch

He's just fucking showing off how much of a worthless PUSSY Trump is that he can do whatever the fuck he wants.
Hit another refinery, Ukraine.

If we wanted to help the diesel prices with Russian oil, and not help fund Russia further... we would have negotiated a steep discount.
It prevents Russia from profiting on it and have an outweighed impact on market prices.
But instead we have a president that's too much of a coward to do that because he likes to rape children.

the tanker takes 20 days to cross the ocean, it won't make a difference for the election

I didn't realize that the United States President could be bought for such a cheap price
