My dad was born in the late 50’s and grew up being fascinated by the Space Race. When they launched the first Falcon rocket with a reusable booster in 2015 he took me down to Cape Canaveral to watch it. I remember him telling me with childlike wonder about how he felt like Elon was going to launch us into the next great age of exploration.

He passed away before Elon did his major public heel turn. I think he’d be heartbroken to see how this has all played out. It’s one of the only reasons I’m okay with my Dad being gone.

Aww man, I’m sorry. I think a lot of people felt like that. For me it was the anime mecha future mars base that I loved from 80s and 90s cartoons

Right? At the end of the day the technology is still so cool. Behind the people corrupting it there’s still thousands of talented, passionate engineers who have made the vision a reality.

I’m still hopeful that someday the people pulling the strings will be gone and we can still use what’s been built to move towards that Sci-Fi dream of exploration and colonization of our solar system and near universe

My mom adored Bill Cosby, she never learned the truth either.

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope it’s comforting in some ways knowing she’s shielded from the bleak reality of things. Hope you’re well, and may she rest in peace

Sorry about your dad, but just want to throw in that I was there as well (I have family in Titusville) and it really was something to behold.

Thanks! Thats so sick that you got to catch it too!

It certainly was an incredible experience. We flew out from Seattle so it was first and only rocket launch I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget how loud and bright it was, even from miles away.
