The Sims shifted to The Sims Studio (which is kind of a Maxis substudio) long before that.

Technically the Maxis brand also never died, they just closed the main Maxis studio and put other studios under the Maxis umbrella.

Okay maybe Command and Conquer would be a better example. They kept making games for a while after Westwood was closed. They kinda killed the franchise though, but it had at least two decent games in it afterwards

To be fair... the entire RTS Genre was somewhat dying around that time, games were stagnant, "E-Sports" was and still is a bane of the Genre and it slowly split into two... "Grand Strategy" Games for the "Strategic" Gameplay and MOBAs for the action oriented Multiplayer Fiesta...
RA3 was a perfectly fine game, some odd choices here and there but otherwise playable but CC4 was just the last attempt at doing something with the Genre... obviously it failed but it's still better than having it morphed into a MOBA.

I'd disagree a bit. CC4 was bad because it was readapted spinoff service game that some exec decided can be quickly churned out as a mainline game instead. It was objectively undercooked, hastily slapped together, and awkward to play as a CnC game. If it was good, build based on like actual Command and Conquer foundation, it still wouldn't revive the genre, but the series wouldn't be so dormant. Chances are even they might've make a FPS spinoff, coasting off IP fandom, those were teased for a long time. Could've been perfect on Battlefield basis. But they made CC4 so bad, it flopped and it was buried until very recently and even then the best we can count on are remakes, I think Generals 2 were teased for a bit, but cancelled
