They keep buying things then mismanaging them which pushes the talent out, misunderstanding the success that made them enticing to buy and thus stifling future successes, and then demanding quarterly returns over generational releases.
This is just putting the corpse of a great studio out of it's misery.
This is true of any studio owned by EA, Microsoft, Ubisoft... thr consolidation of AAA means amyone with passion will either get exploited, burned out, and leave these 3 or go indie.
They bought them in 2007 and kept making changes to the studio up until 2012 when the founders quit and a big leadership shuffle happened. Same year work on Anthem began and Mass Effect 3 released. You can also see the quality drop off in Dragon age 2 released in 2011.
2012 was basically the completed takeover. So you can definitely say that it was EA. They just killed it slowly over time.
It did. These kinds of deaths take time. Mismanagement and fiscal pressure don’t immediately destroy something, it does it slowly, poisoning the company and pushing out the people are the core of it. It’s a slow strangulation. BioWare was stronger than most, but at time of death EA had forced out all the talent that made them special nearly a two decades prior.

Bioware was dead the moment EA bought them.
