Couldn't cut another fifa game had to be a studio who made timeless games. I wish I could call EA's mom and let her know how how disappointed I am in her son

29

u/HeavyHighway6433 7h ago

Why would they cut the game that gets them a guaranteed 1-2 billion dollars every year?

12

u/ELIte8niner 7h ago

For a studio that hasn't had a successful game in 12 years. People really can't figure out that businesses exist to make money.

4

u/Business_Benny 6h ago

Aboslute melons

2

u/Radical_Dingus 5h ago

For real, I feel bad for them but its not exactly a surprise

1

u/voidox 3h ago

yup, insane seeing ppl going "EA bad" as if EA just closed down Bioware for no reason at all, like wat? a studio that spends 12+ years releasing nothing but bad games and is always in development hell costing more money and inflating budgets, wtf else was going to happen?

26

u/Sellier123 7h ago

I mean, when was the last "timeless" game they made?

10

u/goliathfasa 6h ago

Anthem. It was truly timeless.

2

u/TheGreatMrMagoo 5h ago

Anthem was fantastic just needed more content. And released better than so many other games. I'll die on that hill

4

u/Savingseanbean 5h ago

Anthem was dogshit even if it had 10 times the content.

It was a fundamentally extremely flawed game, we just really really liked the visuals.

There was no saving its horrible mismatch of gameplay, loot, level, enemy design with more content. it needed entire system redesigns.

2

u/punchedboa 3h ago

Don’t forget how worthless the loot was. Nothing you did mattered.

1

u/goliathfasa 2h ago

It was a great concept of a game. A good skeleton to build an actual game on.

2

u/DM_ME_YOUR_MAMMARIES 5h ago

Anthem is the type of game that unironically needed Bungie level commitment and could've reliably gone toe to toe with Destiny.

1

u/Starkiller2442 1h ago

Would have beat destiny hands down had they stuck with it like bungie has stuck with destiny.

2

u/Rump-Buffalo 5h ago

What a lonely hill to try to die on

1

u/dicjones 2h ago

I’ll die on that hill with him. Lol.

1

u/AlsoOtto 5h ago

Even if we accept that Anthem was good, that's still seven years ago.

1

u/H8thinmints 3h ago

Fuuuuuuuck no that wasn't 7 years?!?! damn

1

u/Vegasmarine88 4h ago

Going to be honeat that was all on EA. Profit first mindset doesn't make good games. It makes buggy unfinished product but since the devs take the hate they likely dont care. Just buy another studio and destroy what made them special.

1

u/crookeddy 4h ago

Look up the story of Anthem. There are countless articles. Absolutely NOT on "all on EA".

2

u/voidox 3h ago

nah, facts and history is bad for these "EA killed the studio for no reason" ppl, legit trying to act like EA shut down Bioware for no reason at all -_-

as you say, with Anthem we literally have information on it's development hell and how it was NOT EA at all that resulted in that shit game, it was bioware.

2

u/crookeddy 3h ago

The studio had 3 HUGE financial flops in a row. They wouldn't have survived that as an indy either.

1

u/voidox 3h ago

yup, apparently that information is nothing and Bioware had nothing to do with being shut down, just insane stuff with some ppl

1

u/crookeddy 2h ago

The real issue, of course, is the cost of AAA games. Basically one bad flop can end a successful company. And the thing is games like Andromeda weren't even that bad, but "not that bad" isn't good enough with the budgets we're talking about.

1

u/435rouhnj234_209u 19m ago

Anthem is the type of game that needs to be top 3 in its genre for it to be successful, with an interesting enough premise that draws players from other online shooters to play it in the first place. If I were a dev, I'd start job searching as soon as I'm put on a live service project like that because chances of failure are 99.99%.

3

u/DarkSpore117 6h ago

It doesn’t matter they’re timeless

/s

3

u/bman123457 5h ago

I mean, out of the games they listed in their own post. They are all 20 year old series (Anthem obviously doesnt count)

2

u/Virtual_Link_3410 7h ago

Mass effect 2

6

u/Prestigious_Sale_667 6h ago

16 years ago then lmao

3

u/TerminallyEmployed 5h ago

Exactly can’t believe these guys are blinded by nostalgia, you can still go and play these games that’s not a problem, but BioWare sucks now.

The Veilguard sucked and was more about some writers non-binary conversation with her traditional immigrant parents than Dragons, that got through the chopping block just showing they have no idea how to make a good game anymore. Anyone with a brain could see that would be cringe and not immersive.

2

u/Iccotak 5h ago

I know people like to harp on Taash, but all the characters in general were written poorly

1

u/UtkuOfficial 2h ago

I never got why people were upset at her character when none of the other characters felt like actual people either.

They were all boring ass npcs.

2

u/Iccotak 2h ago

In Taash’s case, for some they don’t like any lgbtq elements in their game (who miss that those were in the franchise since the beginning)

For others, it’s that the concepts of a nonbinary Qunari were handled so poorly in implementation, with so little nuance and dismissing existing lore, that it was laughable.

It really felt like blatant propaganda rather than genuine storytelling and character exploration. They was such a poorly written character.

And I know people like to say that story is optional, but they make it pretty clear that doing all of the character side stories is kind of essential for being successful in the end mission.

1

u/UtkuOfficial 1h ago

Who the hell plays and rpg and skips the character side missions. It might be optional, but if you are an rpg player that shit is definitely not optional and often the best parts of the genre.

1

u/OscarOzzieOzborne21 4h ago

It wasn’t “more about” no reason to over exaggerate. The non-binary character’s story is majorly just a side quest. You can ignore it. In fact, you can just leave Taash at the lighthouse and never bring them into battle.

Like, Lonesome road DLC in New Vegas sucks, but i ain’t saying the whole game is shit because of one optional side quest.

3

u/Agreeable-Ad4079 5h ago

Yes, it’s been almost 20 years

You want them to keep bankrolling a failing business ?

-5

u/Shmirel 6h ago

I would really reccomend people replaying some of those "timeless games" like Mass effect series, because i did that this year, and holy shit, it was a real struggle.

10

u/Automatic_Bus_7634 6h ago

I constantly come back to the mass effect series, it still holds up great, especially the legendary edition

1

u/Substantial_Policy60 5h ago

Yeah, like personally I hate the Mako sections of 1 but those are pretty menial and only really a slog if you want to do all the side content, I do a random play through every couple years lol, I don’t even mind Andromeda but I usually skip that on replays of the series

1

u/Automatic_Bus_7634 4h ago

Legendary edition greatly improved the controls and Mako sections of Mass Effect 1

1

u/Substantial_Policy60 1h ago

Its still just so boring driving across barren grey moons just to hit random bases and then slog all the way to grab random stuff that is pretty beneficial to the best ending

4

u/Sellier123 6h ago

I shall as soon as the EA launcher isn't required to play them on steam!

2

u/AlsoOtto 5h ago

I played the remastered Mass Effect trilogy recently and still had an absolute blast. Just curious, what games do you think hold up 10+ years later?

1

u/crookeddy 4h ago

I would raise that - what newer games are actually better?

1

u/Exotic_Insurance_610 6h ago

Got my wife into mass effect series. Loved 1 and 3 but was dissapointed in 2.

1

u/Alternative_Bat_669 5h ago

2 does nothing for the overall story of mass effect.

1

u/Exotic_Insurance_610 2h ago

Thats what she said.

1

u/rootofallstevil 5h ago

I suppose if you played an unpatched PS3 version of ME1, then yes I agree you can call it a real struggle. But the legendary edition is really awesome and I can always go back to that.

1

u/crookeddy 4h ago

What the heck do you play if Mass Effect is a slog to you?

2

u/UtkuOfficial 2h ago

Im curious as well. Mass Effect is the pinnacle of western RPG in my eyes.

3

u/dicjones 2h ago

Not to mention, at the time they were doing something truly unique. It was a planned trilogy from the very beginning.

1

u/7listens 2h ago

I found the combat of 2 (the only one I played) pretty terrible. The movement and gunplay just felt so slow and clunky. I truly hated the gameplay but I loved the story and art so in the end I enjoyed it

1

u/UtkuOfficial 2h ago

Mass effect is still as beautiful as the first day i laid my eyes upon it. I replay the series every 3 years and each time is wonderful.

1

u/7listens 2h ago

Yeah i enjoyed Mass Effect 2 for the story and art. The gameplay? On the fun scale it was in the negative

-5

u/Jubachi99 7h ago

Bg3

9

u/Trade_King 7h ago

Bg3 is made by larian

8

u/JesusKong333 7h ago

I believe EA's mom is the Saudi prince now

-1

u/OldManLarrry 7h ago

Lemme call them and remind them about 9/11.

2

u/Playful_Note_7967 7h ago

"My favorite day of all time?! How could I forget?! Hahahahah, thanks OldManLarry!"

-1

u/Smallxcrimes 5h ago

He said he was going to call the Saudis, not Mossad.

3

u/tukuiPat 5h ago

The 9/11 terrorists where Saudis.

-1

u/Smallxcrimes 5h ago

Okay, bibi.

22

u/Superc1ipping 7h ago

Well the Fifa games make money so

1

u/PoopyisSmelly 6h ago

I remember when the old madden games used to have a custom play designer I spent like hundreds of hours building my own playbook and they got rid of that.

That was probably like Madden 2013 or something lol

Fifa used to let you make your own uniforms and stadiums stuff iirc, idk if they do anymore.

I wish they stopped focusing so much on whack ass story modes in their sports games and gave you more ability to just run cool franchises and customize more.

3

u/DistractedBoxTurtle 6h ago

Only thing I know about fifa is the absolute insane addiction people get openings those player packs… more often than not losing thousands chasing a specific player.

1

u/supe3rnova 3h ago

In Fifa24 I way really proud of my 93 overall rating in ultimate team. Not a single cent spent, just playing, doing SBC, weekly challanges to some extend... it did take it from december to june but still.

1

u/ryntak 6h ago

There are other sports games that let you do that, they're just not _those_ games.

It's not my niche, though. You'll have to go digging. I wanna say maybe football manager, for example?

1

u/PoopyisSmelly 6h ago

True I should look into it

1

u/Superb_Bench9902 4h ago

Whack ass story modes? Fifa had that only like for 3 games in 2010s, excluding the most recent game. Player career mode is a joke and it sucks

1

u/goldman_sax 2h ago

They will never invest in offline things like that again because they don’t make them money. That is also why I haven’t bought a sports game in a decade.

1

u/Severe-Candidate1934 6h ago

ah! its a profit deal!

1

u/Weztside 5h ago

A LOT OF MONEY

1

u/korkkis 4h ago

It’s not even called Fifa anymore, EA FC. But same shit every year, like with NHL games.

1

u/Character_Growth_397 3h ago

Yeah, that's the thing. You'll never catch me defending EA and they are always destroying pretty much everything they touch, but Bioware made a lot of mistakes that led to this.

What does annoy me is the fact that EA could very much sell the properties to other studios, but they won't do it and they won't actually make games from these franchises

1

u/AcceptableBuy4049 3h ago

Are you just stating a fact (because, i agree, fifa does make money) or you also like the games. If yes, could you explain something, because it confuses me greatly. I saw some (though not alot ) gameplay from different fifa's - What the hell is the difference, between maybe graphics? I don't understand the appeal of fifa (but it's probably also because i don't understand the appeal of watching sports instead of just doing them), but like, i feel as if i got the same game handed to me 5 times for new prices, i just wouldn't buy it.

So if you yourself enjoy fifa - what is so fun about it that it's worth buying a newly released fifa when owning the previous?

1

u/Superc1ipping 2h ago

I've never played a FIFA game in my life, thankfully

28

u/TheyStillLive69 7h ago

They've made three big failures (both in revenue and reputation) in a row.

10

u/newbrevity 7h ago

Because EA drove out the core talent and forced them to develop their bad ideas instead of letting them make games they were passionate about.

3

u/MasterMarmot 6h ago

The very core of the core talent were led by the co-founders, Ray and Greg, both of whom retired in 2012 to go live their best lives without the pressure. They weren't forced out, at all.

Ray's a casual friend and he had just had enough. He travels a lot, does some photography, invests some. Greg wanted to focus on craft brewing.

The games industry in the West has been fucked in the ass for several years now, and Bioware is not the Bioware of old. It happens. No organization stays great forever.

15

u/Big_Kaleidoscope409 6h ago

No. They just made bad games. There’s such a giant circlejerk with this “studio good corporate bad” even when studios such as Rocksteady tell you to your face “This is the game we wanted to make” with failures such as Suicide Squad.

It’s as if studios are completely incapable of making bad games.

8

u/Pathetic_Cards 6h ago

Yeah, as much as I am anti-corpos, Bungie was operating without oversight for a long ass time and it didn’t stop their top talent leaving or them pushing out crap that sucked.

I know I struggled with this for a while, but we just need to accept that at the end of the day the studio is just a name. It’s the people who worked on the game that mattered, and virtually no studios from the “glory days” of the XB360/PS3 era remain at any of the “timeless” studios from that period.

9

u/IsenThe28 6h ago

There's a bit of Ship of Theseus to it. If everyone who made your favorite game from a studio leaves that studio and gets replaced by new talent, is it the same studio? And if that old talent goes elsewhere and makes a new studio, is that the same studio? If the old studio with new people says one thing a new studio with old people says another, which is right?

Neverwinter Nights released in 2002. How many people who worked on it worked on Veilguard 22 years later? The problem is seeing studios as singular people who can't change.

5

u/utrangerbob 6h ago

Yea. That's a fair take. Can this Bioware take credit for games nobody employed actually wrote meaningful code for? I mean can I buy the shell of blockbuster or quiznos then claim all their former accomplishments as my own?

1

u/PoliticsGetsMeBanned 1h ago

That’s just how the real world works? The company I work for are the dominate manufacturer in their field. “We” are shareholders who bought their way in a few years ago. “We” are middle management who have nothing to do with the company’s start up. “We” includes me who only worked there for a year.

When the company communicates outward they will speak as if “we” are the people who built the company while the truth is those people took the check and sold the company a long time ago and “we” are a whole new generation doing way more advanced manufacturing then what they ever did. Some of our customers might be the same, most of them are not.

2

u/Manjushri1213 3h ago

To be fair on the last sentence you mentioned, for the longest time back in the day a studio was it's producer or head devs. That still is the case in the indie and even AA world but for the truly giant studios obviously far less so. I've always clocked with games with that singular vision overseeing the direction of a game. Even modern examples like Doom 2016/Eternal having a guiding hand (Marty Stratton! Couldn't remember his name lol), and the obviously Indie studio, but back then Ultima was Garriot and Wing Commander was Chris Roberts, Looking Glass games Warren Specter - they obviously had teams that did varying amounts of work, often being put on spotlight too, but that was the idea. American McGee splintering off from Doom to make awesome games type of stuff.

Now, the really big dev teams don't have the same focus, the heads are managerial and HR bands stuff out a bit too much etc.

1

u/garlicbreadmemesplz 4h ago

Valve seems to be doing fine

2

u/Curious_Bee_5326 3h ago

Half-Life 3 never materialized. Mostly Valve is just printing money with steam.

1

u/garlicbreadmemesplz 2h ago

Brother have you played Deadlock

3

u/Curious_Bee_5326 2h ago

I genuinely didn't realize that was Valve. Huh, fancy that.

3

u/belaros 6h ago

They started Mass Effect 2 about the time EA bought them. Every game they made after that was worse than the last, every game they made before that was a masterpiece.

Usually it's not that clear cut, but this time it is. They started making bad games right after EA bought them.

3

u/mayoconquest 4h ago

We've had Respawn and Motive make great single player games under the EA banner. Bioware is washed. Respawn has managed to tell better stories in their Jedi games than whatever Bioware has churned out since Inquisition.

2

u/belaros 4h ago edited 3h ago

That was like 10 years after Bioware went to shit. And the Jedi games are simply good but no more than that, while any Bioware game up to ME2 is among the greatest of all time.

4

u/Abject_Read_3620 6h ago

People hate capitalism so much (understandably) that it's such a circlejerk of 'suits bad' all the time. It's cringe and obnoxious.

1

u/ultraboomkin 6h ago

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that current BioWare ie the devs who made Veilguard are talented. But you can still put blame on EA for driving away their talent all those years ago. The talented developers who made those classic games clearly loved their games, but they left. EA failed to retain them, that’s on EA

2

u/MajorPain_ 6h ago

Yet it was BioWare of today that can be blamed for replacing that talent with mediocrity. People leave game studios all the time for countless reasons, it's ultimately on BioWare itself for choosing who replaces them, and they chose bad game developers.

0

u/DatPrick 6h ago

I'm sure the dev team that is desperate to keep their jobs amidst massive layoffs and corporate mergers are going to say that they are behind their project. To do the opposite would ensure they'd be on the chopping block.

You're a fucking shill for the investors. Absolute braindead take.

1

u/CaleanKnight RTS 5h ago

People like you are the reason that the last Decade and a Half of BioWare was nothing but Failures...

1

u/DatPrick 3h ago

That's so fucking funny because the person I'm replying to is so dense they don't understand that the team that made KotOR and DA:O left almost a decade ago. This is absolutely the problem with EA and more recently the pedo ass Saudi investment fund that's running the show now.

You have such a stunted view of the way things work it honestly baffles me.

6

u/Lordlordy5490 6h ago

With that logic Bioware died a long time ago

3

u/blaze92x45 6h ago

Indeed it did

2

u/Practical-Alarm1763 6h ago

Nailed It. This was inevitable. I'm not surprised you could care less. Bioware died by 2015.

-1

u/WranglerLeading9265 5h ago

Gaming died a long time ago

2

u/Mediocre_Sherbet7871 4h ago

smallest overreaction in a gaming subreddit

1

u/RagingBear12 2h ago

I'm pretty sure I wasn't working on a car when I played Elden Ring. You know one of the developers that doesn't add microstransactions and makes great games. See Larian as well.

Companies like EA and Ubisoft are not a barometer of gaming

2

u/Caterpillar_Cute 7h ago

Very sad and true, but that’s kinda the reason I’m okay with it being killed. It was already a shell of its former self, being paraded around like it was a weekend at Bernie’s.

1

u/3FtDick 7h ago

Watching the Anthem streams was like watching a hostage scenario. I was innundated with micro-cues and subtle indications that they were developing a game they did not like and they knew would be received poorly.

1

u/CaleanKnight RTS 5h ago

Then they should have gotten their shit in order a lot sooner, then they could have just "made what they wanted"... they didn't... someone had to put a foot down, BioWare failed.

1

u/3FtDick 5h ago

Have you ever worked somewhere before?

1

u/CaleanKnight RTS 5h ago

Yes, I have... and as such I know that internal Management can be a right Bitch...

Mind you, I am not talking about the individual Developers, I am squarely talking about BioWare Leadership which hasn't been on the line since the Founders left.

1

u/Chucklum 6h ago

Unfortunately, great games come from passion not profit.

1

u/happygoluckynny 4h ago

once the doctors left, they only produced garbage.

the doctors PLAYED ttrpgs and their games felt like that

ea is a soulless corporation and their games felt like that

1

u/jkhunter2000 3h ago

Anthem iirc was a game pushed by bioware and they had to plead with EA execs

1

u/punchedboa 3h ago

Yet the people working there seem to think they are the dream team.

1

u/Dacendaran434 6h ago

Two of them deserved the flak but I still stand by Andromeda being a genuinely fantastic game that was over hated because the early game had a few bugs despite every Bethesda RPG being a bug ridden sometimes nearly unplayable mess.

2

u/TheyStillLive69 5h ago

I strongly disagree. Andromedas writing was so bad. Everything was filled with marvel humor and bad animations.

You use Bethesda games as a comparison but you fail to mention that its common knowledge that andromeda was made in like 18 months because they wasted years on trying to find the game and what it even was.

Bethesda games aren't made like that and when they are (Starfield) it shows just like in Andromeda.

1

u/SirBitenfe 2h ago

That guy expects us to forget how bad the game was. I attend by you, none of Andromeda systems were good AND the game for clowned on for good reasons too

1

u/thorpie88 1h ago

Both Andromeda and Starfield are 7/10 games overall. The issue with Andromeda is the Bioware infighting and the main studio dumping the change in animation software on the people making the game at the last minute

1

u/Alarmed-Guava7696 5h ago

I was assured by the top minds of reddits for months that Failguard was actually great and would prove itself over time... aaaand it's gone.

The people cheering Failguard have been pretty quiet recently, wonder why...

0

u/NMRIH2Troll 6h ago

Ya mabye have them make games their good at. Look at rare lol. Dead studio in my mind

5

u/TheyStillLive69 6h ago

Pretty sure Mass Effect and Dragon Age are the games that they were supposedly good at and those are two of the three above mentioned duds.

7

u/Beefgirthx 7h ago

When was their last timeless game? Unfortunately this was a long time coming

3

u/Organic_Warthog7238 7h ago

2014 lol BioWare is a dump and should have been shutdown by 2020

3

u/RumPunchForBrunch 7h ago

Haven’t made a timeless game in over a decade

2

u/RRRKnigh 7h ago

They hadn’t made timeless games in a long time

2

u/Virtual_Link_3410 7h ago

They used to make timeless games over 15 years ago

1

u/IceCorrect 7h ago

Who cares about "studios" its people who made those games

2

u/Biggleswort 7h ago

You understand the studio decides the funding. The studio is also who establishes and buys IPs. So if you want those people to make another good game you need the studio. People struggle to make triple A games with no budget right?

1

u/IceCorrect 7h ago

My point is that people treat gaming studios like their sport team, that no matter who would play there it would still be the same club.

1

u/frankjungt 7h ago

Institutional knowledge and culture are real things that impact product, even as the individuals come and go.

1

u/_Pizza_Lover 7h ago

Than why Bioware was wasting money and air for last ten years if individuals aren't so important?

1

u/IceCorrect 7h ago

If you replace all people from heavy metal band with k-pop one, you cant expect that same old heavy metal sounds. Its the same here, all people who made Bioware great are gone and are replaced by people who tanked the studio

1

u/Biggleswort 7h ago

Yes because they own your favorite “team” (ip). I get what you’re saying but I’m not getting another mass effect because of this, unless a studio buys it up.

In short it comes down to are you fan of a game or are you fan of an IP. I prefer a strong continuous story and generally a sucker for IPs. Versus chasing the next great game and mechanic.

2

u/IceCorrect 6h ago

You are perfect consumer. I would like continuation for story I like, but if it would be done by people who dont know IP or sometimes hate the IP, I would rather let it rest for ever

1

u/PlantainManne 7h ago

FIFA makes them money. BioWare was in decline since 2014.

1

u/Most_Quarter_6988 7h ago

Only if you speak arabic

1

u/amaul796 6h ago

Yeah, cut a game that generates nearly $3 billion dollars annually and keep a studio that hasn't produced a decent game since 2014.

I know it's Reddit, but some of the stuff I read on here is just ridiculous.

1

u/DaisyCutter312 6h ago

Disappointed by what? Putting them out of their misery?

The Bioware we all knew and loved died a long time ago, no matter what the credits on sad garbage like ME: Andromeda and DA: Veilguard might say

1

u/Ell7494 6h ago

While recent fifa games have been crap, why would they cut it when its likely their biggest earner

Unfortunately Bioware's last 3 releases were all failures - Dragon Age Veilguard, Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda

1

u/Smallxcrimes 5h ago

But... But... My inclusion 😌

1

u/CustomVII 6h ago

This is really sad. But this comment fucked me up, FR.

Ahahah!

1

u/SmokeWeedEatYogurt1 6h ago

Yeah cut the games that make money instead. This is why you're broke in your mom's basement and nobody will socialize with you in person.

1

u/Rootlo 6h ago

You can't waste 600 mil across 3 games in 10 years and expect your studio to stick around. Regardless of how great your past games were.

1

u/submissivelittleprey 6h ago

bioware hasn't made a good game since dragon age inquisition lol

1

u/IHOOHI 6h ago

ME3 was the last good game Bioware made... 14 years ago. Sometimes you gotta pull the plug

1

u/Melodic_Crow_3409 6h ago

Their spirit carries on in studios like Larian and Owlcat. Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader has a lot of the old Baldur's Gate vibe in it.

1

u/pinkysegun 5h ago

Pls read what you just said,  pause and 🤔

1

u/Over_Construction264 5h ago

EA was bought by the Saudis, the FIFA franchise is the reason they bought it.

1

u/Alternative_Bat_669 5h ago

Why are we acting like Bioware has been a relevant studio this decade? Every game they have made recently has been hated by critics and players

1

u/TheCivilizedBigDog 5h ago

Bioware hasn't made a good game in decades dude what the fuck are you even talking about? And sure the FIFA and other sports games are recycled garbage but just like every CoD release, sell out the nose every single year. Not sure how anyone is surprised. I'm surprised it took this long, after the abysmal failings of Dragon Age Veilguard I assumed this would have come sooner, even before the acquisition.

No shit they won't cut the game that makes up a third of their entire annual revenue, you absolute fucking spanner.

Bioware has been a shambling corpse since Inquisition.; They just put it out of its misery

She's already disappointed in her son

Bioware wasn’t the same studio that made the games you loved, buddy. That studio was long gone.

1

u/Anunnak1 5h ago

Fifa makes a ton a money and the last time Bioware made a timeless game was like 20+ years ago

Crying for a washed studio

1

u/Quiet1408 5h ago

This is not the same studio that made those games.

Completely different studio under the same name, different owners, different staff, different everything. The only thing they still had was their IPs, which have been slowly circling the drain for a long time now.

u/Banned4nonsense 5h ago

They haven’t made a “timeless game” in 16 years. They did this to themselves.

u/This_Option_5250 5h ago

Bioware has been dead since Mass Effect 3

1

u/Reasonable-Aioli-370 5h ago

This is not real BioWare. This is EA wearing biowares corpse as a skin suit.

Welcome, To Veilguard!!!

Modern Bioware was a terrible game studio.

Saudi Arabia and Jared Kushner is now EA's mom.

You couldnt pay me to talk to them. Well I mean I'm sure there's a number but colloquially, I'm really not interested in that phone call.

1

u/Mundane_Software3208 4h ago

They haven't made a timeless game since Obama's first term

1

u/KaidaStorm 4h ago

Well "FIFA" would probably never get cut, it's their biggest money make by far and is... in its nature easy to make. It's not even funny how much it makes.

1

u/1sttimedogowner 4h ago

Unfortunately, timeless doesn't make money. Gonks will keep buying Fifa and Madden every year. You should think of the shareholders. /s

Hopefully they will spin off to their own studio and be independent like Larian or Sandfall

1

u/JosephJameson 4h ago

Yeah let's cut a game that makes us tons of money so the team that is bioware in name only can produce another flop!

1

u/punchedboa 3h ago

You did see the last 3 games on their list right? They did this to themselves.

1

u/jkhunter2000 3h ago

Its sad news but the last 3 games were andromeda, anthem and veilguard. I am not the least bit surprised by this News and surprised it didn't come sooner

1

u/LesserValkyrie 3h ago

Well last time they made a game that has the genius of their "timeless games" was 14 years ago

While last time FIFA made a game that has the genius of a FIFA game it was this year

That's just that

BioWare hasn’t made anything worthwhile since ME3, it’s been a major drop in quality ever since.

This was bound to happen. They’ve been working on the next ME for how long now ? Other than small trailers they have shown nothing other than staff changes constantly behind the scenes.

u/Manjushri1213 3h ago

Idk. The Bioware I loved has been dead a looong time. Inquisition was the last game I cared for. They've not been the same since before even then. Hopefully now their IPs will go to someone who can make something fresh, good, unique etc ..

1

u/Expensive_Medicine15 3h ago

No one that made those games still work for BioWare

1

u/Jamskinner 2h ago

They destroyed themselves. That last game was a disaster. The game before wasn’t good enough.

1

u/MapleWatch 2h ago

The sports studios actually release games. Bioware has been half assing it for years.

1

u/mapcars 2h ago

That's the thing, when was their last timeless game made? If it were recently they wouldn't be closed. Also most likely people who made timeless games are no longer in the current company, its just the title that's left.

1

u/darthmcdarthface 1h ago

BioWare hadn’t made a good game in over a decade. FIFA is a cash cow. Why would they ever follow your advice?

1

u/muggleclutch 48m ago

EA’s mom probably was murdered a long time ago.

1

u/435rouhnj234_209u 27m ago

Couldn't cut another fifa game had to be a studio who made timeless games.

35 year olds yelling at company for shelving the franchise that hasn't had a good game since they graduated high school, instead of the one that made billions this past year..............

1

u/Townscent 15m ago

Tbf. The last 1/3 of their existence was like 3 increasingly bad games.

They simple lost both scope of their projects and touch with their audience.
