Don't waste money on Playstation when they have made it clear they don't care about their gamers. XBOX also has gamepass and thats 1000% worth it for the free access to so many good games. The UI is also more user friendly and the games in general don't feel so... old, boring, repetitive? Most of the games look cartoony/anime and too much gacha. I'm not sure what it is but I sold my PlayStation after only having it for a little over a year
Honestly though I likely won't buy another console at all. PC does everything better

Honestly, while I have all three, I originally chose Xbox because that’s where all my friends were with the shooters and what not. Today, game pass does still make games seem accessible and it’s exciting to see what Asha cooks up compared to the current choices Sony execs are making imo.

u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
Only reason I have an Xbox is cause most of my friends have them and would lose a lot if swapped over to sony but I dont think I've turned my Xbox on in over a year tbh cause my ps5 pro does bout everything Xbox does but better ofc cause its the pro

u/Korachof 12h ago
Right now if I had to buy one of them, I would buy an Xbox because I frankly have been very disappointed in Sony. I know a lot of people make fun of the disc stuff, but I genuinely enjoy collecting games and I straight up don’t trust Sony long term.
I don’t really trust Xbox either, but they haven’t come out and confirmed eradicating discs entirely, and I trust their digital ecosystem more than PlayStation’s.
But honestly? In a supposedly all digital future, I’d just get a pc. No one does all digital better than Steam and GoG, and PC also isn’t a closed ecosystem.
As far as a “real” answer to your question, while I don’t personally have a newer Xbox, I do like Xbox’s ui a lot more, and their consoles are tied to Game Pass, two compelling reasons to buy one.

Xbox will probably some day get rid of physical games too but at least they announced a solution before introducing the problem with their new physical disc to digital license. It's not perfect but I prefer having at least a solution before the problem gets introduced, meanwhile PlayStation's solution is just "swap over to just buying digital then" and that's not a real solution
0
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
Thats fair. I own all the consoles and stuff and Playstations game pass is actually pretty promising right now and as a Sony fan I too am disappointed in Sony as well but I still feel like Playstation is just the better experience in my opinion

u/Howling_Mad_Man 12h ago
Xbox Play Anywhere. That's massive.
0
u/Creepy-Emu8779 2h ago
its really not tho
1
u/Howling_Mad_Man 1h ago
Purchasing a digital game and having it available on PC and console and handheld and the cloud?
-1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
That is a pretty neat feature, never used it myself yet
1
u/Howling_Mad_Man 12h ago
If I ever wanted to make the jump to PC, I could somewhat easily. Or if I ever got the xbox handheld? There's my library. It's awesome

u/Pleasant-Speed-9414 12h ago
Play anywhere is the main thing I could think. Basically future proofing your collection from a BC perspective. I’m a physical first Xbox gamer, so loving disc to digi. Especially since I picked an Ally up earlier this year.
Game pass is interesting if you want to dabble in a bunch of games, but I dropped my ultimate sub earlier this year since I often wanted to play games not in game pass.
Beyond that, Xbox doesn’t have a bunch of modern exclusives but have a ton of back compat games if you really into that.

u/Schmenza 12h ago
Backwards compatibility, quick resume, play anywhere, disc to digital, an actual return policy on digital purchases, emulation with dev mode. Also maybe you just like the color green
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
The return policy is definitely better than sonys lol I won't debate that, also im aware of what quick resume is but I feel like I dont ever hear anyone really using it?
2
u/Schmenza 12h ago
It's kinda one of those things you use without realizing it. Being able to just turn on my Xbox and be right were I left off is so convenient. No boot up screen, no loading up saves, just your character being right where he was ready to go. Friends all hop on for an Overwatch session so you switch over for a couple rounds then seamlessly hop back into whatever single player campaign right after. I don't think I could live without it at this point
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
But technically ps5 does this as well right? I mean i just put my console in rest mode and when I turn it on its right where I left off?
2
u/Schmenza 12h ago
Can you bounce around multiple games and be right where you left off?
0
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
That i cannot lol. But from what my friends tell me they never have more than one game open at a time, I might be wrong but wouldnt that just hog more ram in the backround and lower performance? I dont know all the ins and outs of it im just asking
1
u/PointyDoor135 11h ago
Sorry to jump in on this conversation, but I just kinda assumed the PS5 had multiple games quick resume.
To answer your question quick resume can cause bugs in a few games. I believe Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor have a bug where the voice audio is out of sync with the characters and subtitles if you use quick resume and gets worse the more you do it. Another one is it causes online connectivity issues on Grand Theft Auto V. It’s not perfect on every game, but it is nice to have. It does have a noticeable effect on the download speed of game updates. I just checked my Xbox now and I have 4 games running in the background and closed some that I haven’t played in a week.

I was a PlayStation guy but all my friends have Xbox so i changed over when it was time to upgrade systems for the ease of online gaming with my boys.

u/eirigance 8h ago
Because Xbox is the less of the 2 evils.
Sony raised prices to profit on their Consoles
Microsoft raised prices & are still taking a loss

u/rtgordon 12h ago
Xbox for play anywhere with PC and when I'm tired of Xbox, I can use the console to stream my PC games to the living room using Apollo/moonlight.
Playstation for the PS5 Pro
2
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
I love my ps5 pro and im glad I got it before the gta 6 inflation kicked in lol
1
u/nahnonameman 12h ago
Xbox provides Game Pass, which is useable for PC (PC Handhelds too) and a Switch and it’s sort of set for gaming in general
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
What do you mean and a switch?
1
u/nahnonameman 12h ago
Xbox Game Pass, PC and a Switch 2 (as the optional handheld console) (or other PC Handhelds). That’s what I mean. Apologies for the confusion.

Xbox grandfathered in our libraries from the 360 days with back compat. In 2017 the consoles were both cheap enough that I just bought both of them and finally upgraded from my old 360 and pc I built in 2011. Day one I plugged in my ps4 and the library was empty so I bought doom 2016 cause it was on sale. When I plugged in my Xbox I immediately had 50+ games to play on it. So I just kinda kept playing my Xbox one until eventually I played all the exclusives I wanted on ps4 and sold it. This is also the exact reason why Xbox has struggled so bad with competing. Anyone that switched over before Xbox added back compat already built a new digital library on ps4 and aren’t looking to lose that switching back.

u/RapBladeMeDoIt 12h ago
I have a Xbox Series X and a PS5 (I bought both like 5 years ago). I play my Xbox WAY more than I play the Playstation. in fact I haven't touched my PS5 in like 2 months.
For me the reason is because Xbox just offers more. I'm able to hop on console when I want or, if someone in my family is on the TV I can easily just turn on my PC and pick up where I left off with the play anywhere system. If I want to try a game before I commit to installing it on something I just use the cloud. Xbox is extremely versatile. I also really enjoy the backwards compatibility and the UI a lot more than Playstation.
PlayStation hasn't ever given me a reason to stick with it. I bought it originally because I wanted to hop on all the exclusives but this generation there's been a lack of exclusives that interest me. On top of that Sony's PR has been horrendous. Its hard to back a company that keeps reminding their player base that they are nothing but dollar signs. We already know that, we don't need to be constantly reminded while getting basic features taken away. so as of now my Playstation just collects dust.

u/GreyKnightTemplar666 11h ago
I'd recommend going switch 2 / PC combo personally
1
u/13Hoursmusic 11h ago
But God of war thooooo lol, but a pc and switch 2 combo is plenty to make anyone happy
1
u/GreyKnightTemplar666 11h ago
I'm also a patient gamer, I can wait 5 years for a PS game to release on PC if I really need to play it. Honestly I can't think of a single exclusive game that has made me think about getting a console.
-2
u/GuitarRiot 12h ago
Xbox hasn't canceled physical games the way Sony has (yet)
3
u/Sonic2Tails 12h ago
Xbox has released multiple games this generation with no physical version. You can barely find physical Xbox games outside the US. They have been trying to kill physical games for over a decade
1
u/CatchUsual6591 12h ago
Debatable they skipped first party games this gen and thier digital share is bigger
1
u/Maximum-Oven-7526 12h ago
Remember in 2013 when they almost had fully online DRM with physical media. They would have done it if PlayStation didn't
1
u/HeldnarRommar 12h ago
Sony was also planning to do that. Xbox’s presentation went first and they saw the massive backlash and quickly changed course before their presentation.
1
1
u/crazewtboy 12h ago
It's coming. It's kind of inevitable given that so many people already don't buy physical media any longer. Those that do will not outweigh the ones that do not.
I'm a Playstation fan, but I have people in my family who are Xbox. We pretty much agree the whole thing Xbox is doing where you can put in a physical game and it makes a free digital copy is setting everyone up for a digital only future. They aren't going to announce that yet because of the backlash Sony got. But it is kinda obvious
-2
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
To debate this, walk into any store and Playstation disc's are still everywhere. While xbox usually only has like 5 games which are new releases, I think there is definitely more ps5 disc's than series x disc's out there in my opinion
3
u/GuitarRiot 12h ago
What the fuck does current physical stock have to do with future announcements? Your reading comprehension and logic skills are terrible
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
Jeez who pissed in your cheerios? Im simply saying that xbox physical media is less common to find as Playstation and even after Sony officially cancels media, Playstation disc's will still be way more accessible to people than Xbox, your reason for picking xbox is because they havent canceled physical games like Sony has yet, if your such a physical media guy wouldnt you agree Sony fans are still doing better and still will in the future when it comes to collecting physical media?
1
u/0010020030040050069 7h ago
No because Sony does not have the disc technology that Microsoft implemented in the Xbox One era that gives each disc a unique id to tie to your account. Microsoft does, and out of my ~30 physical games, from Xbox One to Xbox Series, only 3 didn’t work for the Disk to Digital program.
Only one company is making it easier to play your older games1
u/13Hoursmusic 6h ago
Which is fair. Xbox having that option is great and im not hating against that but a few other things I wanna point out is that especially for new Gen games, a lot of games actually skipped Xbox physical release and still made a physical copy for Playstation and Playstation has a much higher percentage of the game actually being 100 percent on the disc. Also a reason people collect physical is in case of no internet situations and Xbox series x disc a lot of the times only have the Xbox one copy on the disc and require the download for the series x version. All In all i just personally think from a collectors perspective, Sony will still hold up better in the long run when it comes to physical media collections

u/Sama_dxb 12h ago
In the current market and where I live, Xbox represents a lower point of entry cost wise. Xbox series X is cheaper than a ps5 pro, and with a Gamepass, you have a big library of games, which also crosses over with pc.

u/Fishface81 12h ago
Vibes, your favorite streamer told you to, you are terminally online, brain damage, and poor financial decisions. Those are the only reasons to pick up an Xbox over a Playstation or Switch. UNLESS you really like Halo or Gear of War.
Everything else, including a Halo tile and a Gear of War title, are available on Playstation. The Xbox is more expensive for less games and less players.
1
u/0010020030040050069 7h ago
Bad faith argument.
Xbox does multitudes of things better than Sony.
Free, unlimited cloud saves
Quick resume
Play Anywhere - I can play Cyberpunk or Gears or Dawnwalker on my Xbox Series X, load same save and switch to my desktop PC, or load same save and switch to ROG ALLY handheld.
Gamepass is 10x better than PS+
Disk to Digital which also works with Play Anywhere. Yes my Cyberpunk disc from Xbox One now allows me to play digitally on my PC, Xbox, or handheld.
The only thing Sony has over Xbox is games but what no one mentions is that they’re all the same game. Strong narrative, single player, third person. Can you name one multiplayer PS exclusive in the last 10 years?1
u/Fishface81 7h ago
The question was if you're new to gaming why get an Xbox?
The only thing Sony has over Xbox is games but what no one mentions is that they’re all the same game. Strong narrative, single player, third person. Can you name one multiplayer PS exclusive in the last 10 years?
So we agree then?
Can you name one multiplayer PS exclusive in the last 10 years?

Very few people are picking Xbox for much of anything nowadays.
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
I feel like xbox is fine for long time xbox customers but is kind of lacking for new gamers especially the foot print in stores lately. Sometimes I literally have to ask an associate where the xbox stuff is because of how small it is
1
u/Little_Obligation_90 11h ago
Yes, that's true. I am stuck in the Xbox universe due to prepaid game pass. But if I could go back I would have just shifted to steam in 2020.
-1
u/AnotherPCGamer173 12h ago
I think currently Xbox is starting to get their shit together. Lowering game pass prices after they went up, canceling all the AI Copilot shit, etc.
They are planning to get back into exclusives, and they still have physical media planned. They also just started disc to digital.
To me, PlayStation still has the better exclusives, but it feels like they are all pre-2025. Especially 2022 & 2023 and 2018.
If someone wanted to start gaming and wanted console only, I’d point them to Xbox for game pass. If they want single player story games only, I’d still point them to PlayStation.
If someone wanted to just start gaming, I’d push them to PC. and right now, I’d just tell them to get a pre built.
Though for both, I have a hard time recommending their consoles since both went up in price. The Switch 2 of all things is the cheapest option right now.

Cause fuck Sony. But PC is better anyway.
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
I love my pc, its way more powerful than my ps5 pro but I just love the pick up and play with the Playstation console so I end up playing that more than the pc
-4
u/Usual-Recording-3775 12h ago
PC. Very few reasons anymore to own a console id say. Sony is one of the shittiest gaming companies right now making ps5 and 6 way worse and Xbox isn’t far behind.
5
u/Notnowcmg 12h ago
You guys are like vegans
2
u/Alternative_Cut_1709 12h ago
Honestly, I play on everything and I still gravitate towards my switch for a number of reasons pc players don’t consider.
1
u/Notnowcmg 12h ago
Yeah, I think they think performance is the only metric, but forget about the positives (and negatives) of each platform. Not everyone wants to deal with the troubleshooting etc and not everyone has a need to do anything outside of gaming, so when it comes down to looking for purely a gaming machine the consoles (inc switch) are often better value for similar performance.

Quick resume, prefer the controller, prefer game pass over ps plus. Xbox is great. PS is better due to the exclusives and dual sense haptics imo.
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
I actually love the duelsense controller but to each their own, also how often do you use quick resume? All my xbox friends never use the feature
1
u/jemicarus 8h ago
I mostly play PS5 and switch 2 but when I have an Xbox S week or month I use quick resume all the time to jump between games, AC Odyssey to Dredge to Halo, etc.
Also, I think you misread my post bro. I said I prefer the dual sense haptics and that PS is better than Xbox in my opinion. I was simply listing the reasons why someone might hypothetically prefer Xbox.
0
u/FizzyLightEx 11h ago
Base Playstation is a cheaper console currently and they have more exclusives than Xbox so it's hard to say...
One thing would be game pass being the best value in terms of subscription
0
u/Skyler_The_Player 11h ago
Xbox has nothing you can’t already get on pc therefore it’s useless
1
u/roadrunner_000 7h ago
Except games that actually ya know play properly on the system lmao
1
u/Skyler_The_Player 7h ago
Not good enough to convince to buy a Xbox, I made that mistake when purchasing the Xbox One and it became my most disappointing experience ever on console
1
u/roadrunner_000 7h ago
I'm just jabbin at you. If you got a pc already why would you go back? haha
1
-1
u/Apart_Dance_5767 12h ago
Biggest argument I can see is for Game Pass. PlayStation has PS plus but Game Pass typically has newer bigger releases. Me personally I think Xbox is obsolete if you can afford a good PC, since nearly all Xbox games are also available on PC now and the PC game pass is way cheaper. If I were to recommend a console it would still be PlayStation since most developers are optimizing for Sony. Also Sony is pushing for bigger exclusives like your God of Wars and Ghost games.
Edit: shoot these days maybe the Switch 2 is the best recommendation
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
I love my switch 2 lol and they understand customers want physical. As someone who has both ps5 game pass and xbox game pass. I think the catalog is stronger on Playstation in this very moment in my opinion

How much did you pay for yours? MSRP on a base ps5 with disk drive is 649 usd while series x with disc drive is 799 usd

u/DoodyInDaBooty 12h ago
Game pass only. If you haven’t played most of those games, it’s not a bad deal. Although most of those games go on sale frequently for not much and Gears E Day is the only exclusive they’ve come out with in 2 generations that I even care about.
Personally, and I say this as a guy who’s been on Xbox forever now, go PlayStation. They have a lot of exclusives from the current gen and PS4 era plus their controller has some next level features.
1
u/13Hoursmusic 12h ago
Also as someone who has game pass and ps game pass, the ps game pass seems to look alot better in terms of games right now
3
u/art4mis 11h ago edited 11h ago
As someone who got back into gaming a few years ago after a 15 year break, the first 2 reasons have been amazing. That said, I would probably recommend PS to most people if they weren’t in my situation.
