I made Tiramisu again after my first attempt failed. This time it came out really well, and it tastes a thousand times better than store bought in India
Every tiramisu I'd tried outside was a letdown, and I never understood the hype. I thought maybe that's what's available in India. So I decided to make it myself, as authentically as I could. My first attempt failed due to some ingredient issues, but I tried again, and this time it came out amazing. The Cream Tastes Heavenly.
Recipe as I Made :
INGREDIENTS
Coffee soak: - 200 ml strong moka pot coffee (South Indian filter powder), no milk, no sugar, fully cooled - 50 ml vanilla bourbon coffee liqueur - 5 ml (1 tsp) dark rum - 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Mascarpone cream: - 2 large egg yolks - 50 g sugar - 250 g mascarpone, cold - 10 ml (2 tsp) dark rum - 1/4 tsp vanilla essence - 110 g whipping cream, very cold - some white chocolate, melted
Assembly: - 22 ladyfingers - Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
STEPS
1) COFFEE Brew about 200 ml of strong coffee and let it cool completely. Mix in the coffee liqueur, rum and vanilla essence in a shallow dish.
2) COOK THE YOLKS Whisk the yolks and sugar. Use Double Boiling Method. Keep whisking until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns thick and pale yellow.
3) MASCARPONE CREAM Loosen the cold mascarpone with a spatula, then fold in the yolk mixture until smooth. Stir in the rum and vanilla essence.
4) WHIPPED CREAM Whip the very cold whipping cream, starting on low speed, until it reaches soft-medium to stiff peaks. Add the melted white chocolate; it helps the cream firm up once chilled. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone cream.
5) FIRST LAYER Dip 11 ladyfingers in the coffee, 1 to 2 seconds per side only. Arrange them in a single layer in the dish and spread half the cream on top.
6) SECOND LAYER Dip the remaining 11 ladyfingers, layer them on top, then spread the rest of the cream and smooth the surface.
7) DUST Sift cocoa powder evenly over the top.
8) CHILL Cover and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours, ideally overnight.

Does tiramisu taste better after sitting in the fridge overnight?
I’ve heard that tiramisu tastes even better the next day because all the flavours have time to come together. I’m curious if that’s really true or if it tastes just as good when freshly made. For those who make it at home, how long do you usually leave it in the fridge before eating? ☕

Homemade tiramisu or store-bought? Which one do you prefer?
I've always wondered whether tiramisu tastes better when it's made at home or bought from a bakery. There's something special about the creamy mascarpone, coffee-soaked ladyfingers, and that dusting of cocoa on top.
I've tried tiramisu from a few different places, and the taste can be surprisingly different. Some are richer and creamier, while others have a stronger coffee flavor.
For those who love tiramisu, do you prefer making it yourself or buying it from your favorite bakery? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Local Restaurant has options
Is this becoming a trend now? I saw a post for "tiramisu coffee" from a shop in New York the other day. Do you think it's worth trying?

I could eat tiramisu every day and never get tired of it
Tiramisu has to be one of my favorite desserts. The coffee flavor, creamy layers, and cocoa powder on top just go so well together. I like that it’s not overly sweet like some other desserts.
I’ve tried a few different desserts, but I always come back to tiramisu. Does anyone else feel the same, or is there another dessert you would pick over it?

What's your go-to espresso for tiramisu?
Hey tiramisu lovers! I'm planning on making a big batch this weekend for a party, and I'm trying to decide on the best espresso to use. Usually, I just grab whatever's on sale, but I want this one to be extra special. I'm open suggestions, anything that gives it that deep, rich coffee kick. Thanks in advance!
